Southern Cali fires

up-date from the calif. folks????

Out in Souther OC area...

School was back in session yesterday, but they kept the kids inside....this morning the sky is brownish red, ashes on the cars and the thick taste of smoke in the air. The fires nearby were over 50 percent containment last night with no more houses in immediate danger.

...saw the weather last night....a moisture front is coming our way.

that sounds better..i hope it rains like hell there

don't know where they got the story from, but the British Newspapers today are reporting that an "arsonist" has been shot dead by Police or FBI in relation to these fires.

Yep, saw that last night on the news. He had been parked in an area notorious for arsonists. When the police investigated, he led them on a chase. He then turned and rammed the police cars, at which point he was shot.

I'm guessing it's attractive because it is out of the way where there wouldn't be a lot of people passing by (which is why someone parked there was suspicious), yet still close to a road, and there's lots of dry brush on the hillside.

On the radio this morning - there was mention of a reward for the arsonist who start the Santiago (Irvine) fire. According to the fire dept. - the arsonist knew what they were doing ...as in premeditated ...had to know where to start it, wind direction...
