I just found this...

http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?msa=0&m...08ac31fe3357571

according to that map, it doesn't look like thier are any fires close to Laguna Niguel , where the CSC is located....

There aren't any fires near there at present, but even if there were, the CSC building is surrounded by a large parking lot and some wide roads, so wouldn't be in serious danger.

Compared to those who lost their homes & possessions, it would be a small price to pay.

I wouldn't even dare compare the two, they would both be tragic.

Losing your AOS packet is tragic? Sad perhaps, furstrating perhaps. But not tragic like losing a home.

I agree it's nothing close to losing a home. That's why I wouldn't compare the two. Yes I think it would be tragic to have to start all over again and be apart longer. It's hard enough being apart as it is.

Please don't take what I said the wrong way, I'm NOT in any way, comparing one to the other.

I remember those 90 fires we had here in florida in May, and that one that was here in Lake City, driving thru the ashe like it was snow and not being able to breathe, i pray everyone dealing with it in SoCal is safe.

The wind has changed direction today and inside our office even smells really strongly of smoke, even though we're on the 11th floor, because the smell is coming up the elevator shaft which it hasn't before this week - I'm sitting here feeling really sick because I can't get away from the smell!

Our bosses are not the kind that will say to go home, unlike some I know who have in other companies around here.

We are lucky that the air con works really well in our building, no smoke smell but once you go outside it is really strong.

Out in Souther OC area...

School was back in session yesterday, but they kept the kids inside....this morning the sky is brownish red, ashes on the cars and the thick taste of smoke in the air. The fires nearby were over 50 percent containment last night with no more houses in immediate danger.

...saw the weather last night....a moisture front is coming our way.

As far as the CSC goes, I think it would depend more on where the employees lived than the office building location.

Schools in my area 20 miles south of Santa Ana are still, closed today. Air quality in COsta Mesa is horrible - even smells strongly inside the office again today. Things are improving though because on my drive into work today you couldn't see the palls of smoke like we could yesterday. However, the air in general is all smoky - it's like a layer os moke rather than the towers of smoke we have been seeing. Winds are much less which in some ways doesn't help the wir quality because the smoke is just hanging in the wir and not being blown away.

We are supposed to be getting cooler temps and maybe some marine layer over the next couple of days so generally in this spot the immediate danger seems to be lessening.

My husband and son were supposed to be going to the San Diego Chargers game on Sunday - I bought tickets for our wedding anniversary gift but now looks like the game will be off!

From where I live, they are reporting that the fire is creeping into Cleveland NAtional FOrest and is worsening in Trabuco Canyon - was 50% contained last night but has been downgraded to 30% this morning. Some areas are still under mandatory evacs today.

Apparently GWB has declared 7 copunties disaster areas. I hope the IRS manages to get this organized properly because last time this happened - their computer systems could not then change people's tax records back to the correct codes and we ended up getting a tax bill for $10000 for interst they hadn't computed because of being a "disaster area". So for the sake of a $700 tax break for being in a disaster area we ended up with a tax bill of $10000 just for the interest they hadn't computed. Of course I tried to fight my case saying it was because of a delay on their part which is a reason for having tax interest removed but of course they were having none of it!

Hope everyone has managed to stay safe and has not lost everything in the fires. Take care.
