Southern Cali fires

This is scary stuff.

It smells like smoke here & the sky has a brown low cloud in it.

We got a call from our sons elementary school this morning - classes were cancelled because of close proximity to high fire risk area. We had the windows open last night and I woke up with a sore throat.

...and on 60 Minutes last night, they did a piece on the age of Mega Fires...with an expert's conclusion that Global Warming is the main culprit.

Driving through Santa Clarita yesterday was like driving into hell - huge grey clouds, you couldn't see the sun. My car was covered with a thick grey film. I half expected to LA to be gone when I got there.

And the bad news in the wind up that way was very strong - the Santa Anas are evil this year.

My friend is near San Diego and said the fire is just across the highway from her. They've gathered all their legal documents, anything of value and left. The schools are shut, her husbands medical practice is shut and they're leaving.

Her son is also suffering as he has asthma and the smoke is really having an awful effect on him.

I know! Saturday was bad here in West LA. They said on the news they expected gusts of up to 90mph last night.

I don't really have a whole lot to add to this thread, but... I just wanted to state that I originally read the title as "Southern Cali fries" which changes the topic a little bit.

I heard on the news that many people had to evacuate Canyon Country. I use to rent a townhome right off the 14 and Crown Valley...I remember the Santa Ana winds could blow through there pretty hard.

We just need some bloody rain...lots of it.
