I started a new job about 3 weeks ago, but my fiance had already sent in his pkt 3 with the affidavit of support before I even got the job offer. The Cairo embassy apparently does not normally take this long to give an interview date, but it's been a month now and I have started the new job with paychecks and everything....

So the questions are:

Do I need to send a new Affidavit of Support?

Do we send it directly to the embassy with a cover letter explaining the new job or take it to the interview?

Could I just send my photocopy of last paystub from previous job, newsest paystub, and verification of employment to the interview?

How much could this screw up the process? There are already loooong delays through Cairo Embassy....

I already made more than the required minimum for this year (shown on last paystub from previous job) and new job pays a little more... so I'm hoping there are no problems on that end..... still wondering if I should even bother, or will it look bad if we don't inform the embassy.

Any suggestions greatly appriciated

I am sort of in the same boat. My company is in middle of being bought, so our name is going to change and that will muddy the waters some.

On your case, this is my OPINION. When you signed, dated, and notorized your AOS, you were employed at that company. I do not believe you are required to update that information unless a request is made for more current information. Some thing DO need to be updated as they change, such as legal names, residency, contact info, etc... But the AOS is more focused on your ability to support rather than what are you doing this very moment for money. And you WILL be filling out a new AOS after your married and you go to adjust your spouses status(at least that is the way it worked in 2000).

That being said, there would be no harm in covering your bases and sending your spouse an updated AOS with new supporting documents to reflect your new job. I would, at a minimum, provide your spouse with a letter describing the circumstances around your job change and contact information for your new employer.
