Can I use the Conditional PRC travel back to Canada?

Hi all,

Do you think I can use the Conditional Permanent Resident Card to be my travel document rather than the Canadian Passport?

I don't have my passport right now. Cause I already sent my old passport with the citizen card to apply the new passport on Sept 4, 07.

the problem is, i need to go back to Canada for a week.

do you guys have any suggestion??

My understanding is unless you have a US passport, you must still have your Canadian Passport AND your GC to return to the US.

Someone may correct me if I'm wrong.

If you are driving across, you should be fine. Along with a birth certificate, your Conditional Green card should be enough to satisfy the border agents on both sides. Flying is a different story though, since a passport is now required for entry to the US when travelling by air.

Whenever I travel back to Canada by car, I only use my Green Card, both when entering Canada, and when returning to the U.S. I have had no problems so far.

I agree with a previous poster about having your birth certificate as secondary identification, just in case.

Yep as far as this point you are fine to cross the land borders with just the GC. Air you must have a passport, in fact they won't even let you get your flight tickets or board the plane without one now...

however, i was not born in Canada........

so can i still use the green card and state license back to US?

Many people do not require a visa to visit Canada. These include:

• persons lawfully admitted to the United States for permanent residence who are in possession of their alien registration card (Green card) or can provide other evidence of permanent residence.
