I dont know how many people on here call the USA or Canada. But i use a company called 18185. There free to register and it only cost me 0.5p per min. Theres no contract and you dont lose your BT line. I was using calling cards before but once my sister told me about them i find them the cheapest way of calling abroad. A one hour call across the pond costs me 30p. Does anyone use any other phone provider which is cheaper?

Skype and Google Talk, yes you need broadband, but you can talk without ever wondering how long you've been on.

If the person on the other end doesn't have broadband then Skype is the only option. You pay for some credit, and you can call real phones. However it isn't as cheap as your amazing .5p per minute deal.

I use 18866 (www.call18866.co.uk). It's a 5p connection charge for each call, but UK national calls to normal landlines are free and it's only 2p a minute to the US. The connection is always good as well. :)

Hi I use Vonage, your phone line is connected to your computer. Its 25 dollars a month for unlimited long distance to Canada.

0.5p /min is very good but if you talk alot it can still mount up over the month. When I was in England I used www.toucan.com, it is 9.99 a month for unlimited calls to international landlines. This way you get no surprises. I was able to talk for hours every day without worrying about my phone bill

I'm using a service that costs me 0.35p a minute. I've been using this service for about 2 years now, It's via a VOIP service and it can be used with any land line provider. Unfortunately I found it a good while a go looking for cheap deals and have no idea what the company is named but it's basically like a pay-as-you-go provider, It may sound a little dubious but I can't fault it. You buy credit which is then charged on to your telephone bill, the credit can be purchased as £1 or £1.50. Once you have credit on the phone you're dialing from, you then dial the set telephone number (which happens to be 0208 London number) and it then prompts you for the destination number, at that point you dial your number including the international prefix. I've been using this service for 2 years like I mentioned and I'll be honest at first I was a little hesitant and regularly checked my phone bills etc, but it's been flawless.

The number is 0208-497-0373, once you've dialed that number it will explain what to do next. If you have no credit, it will tell you how it can be added. I HIGHLY recommend it :)

Hope it helps
