im not trying to start anything but i really want to know - why do little girls have to wear hijab? (ie vs. women of age)

They don't have to wear it until they hit puberty and some are of the belief that they never have to wear it. I think that 1) the parents just think it's cute to dress them up like that for a picture and 2) some little girls just want to dress up like mommie half the time. I have read of a lot of women that say their little girl just wants to be like them but that when they get to be a certain age that wears off and they either keep it on due to their beliefs or they take it off.

Beef ribs are awesome. My slow-cooker 'recipe':

Tomato sauce

Brown Sugar

Apple Cider Vinegar

Salt

Pepper

Red Onion

Chop the red onion finely. Mix the tomato sauce, vinegar, & sugar & spices to taste. You're looking for something sweet and tangy, so start with the tomato sauce as a base and add the vinegar and sugar slowly until you get the consistency you want. You can also add cloves or nutmeg if you want to.

Pour mixture over:

Beef ribs

Put them in a slow cooker on low. Come back later. Eat.

Ok, this is by far the most awesome backsplash I ever designed! It was installed last week and I was let in to photograph it this morning. It is made with 1x1 and 2x2 glass mosiac (at $60 a square foot).

That is GORGEOUS, Jackie. Me want!

I wish I could afford that backsplash!

With labor, my customer paid $1900.00. Jas, Charles, don't you think your wives would like one of these? How about in seafoam green?

Jackie (L)

um i think it's more of a matter of whether my wallet would like one :D

I have been trying to post all afternoon, but my connection has been going in and out.

Jackie, I love that backsplash!! I am sure your customer is very pleased!

Sara - wow!! It's official.... Baby is coming this week!!! Alf Mabrook!

I am digging all of the ribs recipes. My mom makes the best ribs ever, but I have no idea how she does it. The meat falls off of the bone, and we usually wind up eating them with a fork. *drool*

amal & Jackie, nice pic! amal, your son is toooo cute!

Hi to everyone else here & happy Sunday.

It's good to have grown up with a contractor for a parent. ^_^ Lol! Labor costs are a non-issue. Not to mention sourcing of great materials. We do (almost) everything ourselves here. Only renovation we didn't do - was the roof & siding. (bleh, too much work - let a pro handle it.)

If you're willing - grab a book, and learn how to slap that stuff up yourself. A great looking ... uh, I still like to call it those tiles on the wall behind the stove lol ... is only as expensive as how much work as you're willing to put into it. ;)

* And you can still afford to have someone with some good design skills draw a nice one up for you! :D

Edited some of my music video footage today. Will be busy with that the next few days as it's due on Wednesday.

What else???? Hmmmm......

Oh yeah. I can't sleep. Maybe I should read my textbook chapters...? They always seem to put me to sleep...ha! ;)

I am sore today all over. After the video shoot I went to turn the ultra heavy lighting kit and camera kit back in and no one was there. I called the prof and she said to turn it in on Monday and I wasn't looking forward to carrying that stuff all the way home and back again. Alas the soreness.

In other news I don't know what to make of these pix I got in an email from my sister in law. There was no text just these pix. Anyone?

The second one looks like a little girl I know... she's really cute in a hijab, but gorgeous and a stunner without! She doesn't wear it full time, only at the mosque.

the tile is what is expensive. those glass tiles are pricey. however here is a little trick, my husband bought clear tiles which are WAY cheaper and he spray painted the back of them to achieve the color! it would work with any color, ours is gray and we dont have a pattern but we have a very bright colored kitchen so we really cant. but you cant tell these tiles are spraypainted they just look like grey glass tiles!
