Hello all,

I just wanna know what's your opinion about this. I and my husband are thinking about what if I give birth of our child in my home country, Indonesia. I come here with K1 visa and right now I still waiting for my GC to be approved (long story, I've been waiting for almost 2 years now). I'm not pregnant (yet) right now, we were just throwing out ideas, what if I in the future I give birth to our child in Indonesia so I'll be surrounded by my family and friends (of course, he'll be there also), will it be a hassle for the child (to bring it back to US and claim the citizenship)?

What become our consideration is, my parents, they want to be with me so much, when I give birth. And my dad condition is not making it possible for a long flight to US (it takes about 24 hours to fly here, not counting the land traveling to our city right now).

I'm not pretty sure how it's gonna work out, this idea just crossed in our mind. Probably, I'll fly to Indonesia when I'm 5 month pregnant and stay there until the child about 3 or 4 months? I'm not sure either how old a child is allowed in a long flight, I gotta find that out also.

Anyone has anything about this? I appreciate any idea, comment, suggestion, anything at all. I read one posting about give birth in other country (eventhough it's a nasty case, the lady in Italy), one of the reply there gives me a bit hope of this idea (seems like I only need to register the child birth in embassy and he/she can get US passport automatically?)

Thank you so much!

HI engie

I'm a filipina married to a US Citizen. I gave birth to our child in the philippines. We applied a US passport for our son at the US embassy Manila. No need to file a petition for your sons or daughters as long as either one of you(the parents) is a US Citizen. But make sure you have proofs that you were together at the time you got pregnant.

Thank you so much Aurea,

Actually, I have some further questions regarding this, can I ask you through private email (if you don't mind) or just post it here? It's more like the detail of how you getting through all the situations.

Thanks again!
