I'm very tired, as we're trying to get used to a new schedule for my husband's (fresh husband, too, married yesterday!) new job on Monday, so please bear with me if I don't make a ton of sense.

We were going to do this all on the Canadian side, but due to an overstay on his behalf, well... we're back over here in the US at the moment. I'm Canadian, he's American.

Like I mentioned, we were married yesterday (even though we're both sick, oh that was fun!) and I'm just trying to figure this all out right now, because I THOUGHT I knew what we needed to do, but now I'm seeing there's a lot more forms than I originally was told by a border person. :/

I was told I just need to file the K3 and I-129, but here I'm seeing about 4 different forms. The 129, 130, K3, and I think 864? :( I'm so... so confused.

If someone could make a really simple outline of what does what, and when they need to be filed (in what order), and... anything else I'm missing, I would love you forever.

Thank you so much in advance, and I'm sorry if I put this in the wrong spot! I tried to understand all the outlines around this site, but as I said, I'm sick AND sleepy. No fun. Methinks it's time for some NyQuil. :)

K-3 is I-130 AND I-129F.

CR-1 takes a bit longer and costs less than K-3 results in Green-card upon entry allowing work.

Consider carefully the K-3.

CR-1 is I-130 WITHOUT the I-129F

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

The "Guides" here are very helpful.

I think Dan means consider carefully not doing the K3 and doing just the CR1 (I-130 petition) instead. Unfortunately, in Canada, the timeline is several months longer for the CR1 than the K3 but the K3 is overall about an extra $800 in fees and doesn't allow you to work until several months after arrival. Weigh the pros and cons against your own priorities very carefully. The process takes a minimum of 7 months regardless.

Wow wow wow. Yeah, that is a big difference in pricing. Where can I find the differences in between the two options? :)

In the "Guides". That's the place to start. Read first. Post after.
