I have asked a similar question before but I need everybody's opinion. My fiance would normally be going to Vancouver for his medical exam. However, he may go to Calgary because its easier. He is asking me that if he can go before he receives packet 3. We are filing the K-1 petition next week. He wants to go in June and get it done. The reason is he will need to fly to Calgary (even if he was going to Vancouver he would need to fly) and needs to work around his very hectic schedule plus not wanting to purchase a plane ticket at the last minute.

When they send out the Packet 3 is the medical they request specific to you or is it general? Are there forms you can obtain ahead of time that you can take with you or do you have to use what is supplied in Packet 3?

Thank you everybody in advance.

Jen

For my cr-1 it just lists the doctors (which u can find on VJ) they dont give you any paperwork to atke with you to the Dr, except for that letter, the Dr has all the necesary forms. BUT some doctors require the letter, some do not! Best just to cal lthe DR in Calgary, explain the situation and see what he has to say. And ask how many passport pics they require. Best of luck

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Yeah.. our doctor required the letter from Packet 3 when they did our medical... They will at least need the NVC Case number to be able to do anything. If you don't have Packet 3, you wont have the NVC case number and you won't be able to do the medical.

I did my medical in Vancouver and they didn't need the letter but they definitely need the NVC case number.

The packet is general, not specific.

He could get going on his vaccination requirements ahead of time.

personal message me if you want me to email you the medical requirements part of my packet 3.

Good luck.

I had my medical done in Calgary in March. They sent the list of dr. with the packet 3 and there is only one dr. in Calgary who is authorized for US immigration. His name is Dr. Adriann Viljoen and the phone number is 403-242-0484. They asked for my letter from the consulate and two photos. You may want to call his office which is located in 220-1919 Sirocco Drive SW and explain your situation

Good luck, I hope this helps

This doesn't pertain to Calgary or Vancouver but thought I'd mention it for any Edmonton medical people.

My fiance' has her medical Monday. She is going to Dr. HS Chana and they require 3 passport style photos, case #, passport, any immunization records, birth certificate, $220 CAN (cash, certified check or MO).

Btw my fiance' has no immunization records. Her records were lost in the Philippines so they will have to test her to make sure she has the necessary vacinations. Originally we thought we had to pay for the test & shots needed but I called back yesterday to get an estimate of how much extra $ she needed to take and this time the lady asked if she had Alberta health care and I said "yes". The receptionist said the test & vaccines would be covered under her health care plan and it would be just the regular fee of $220 for the exam, so that was good news. Im having her take a little extra just in case though.

Hope this helps anyone in the Edmonton area.
