Good news this morning. I received an email from HCM Embassy (see below). I've already filled out the form ahead of time so she will submit it directly to the Embassy first thing Monday morning. Hopefully this will save a couple of weeks instead of waiting for the snail mail to arrive. Hopefully we'll get the interview date soon.

----------------------

We have received your fiancee's case from the National Visa Center.

Her case number is HCMxxxxxxxxxx.

We sent your fiancee an Instruction Package (Packet 3) on November 17.

The packet was sent to the following address:

xxxxx

Your fiancee is requested to return the completed DS-230 Part I to us as soon as possible. We cannot schedule your fiancee for a visa interview until we receive this form. If your fiancee has not yet received the

packet after one month of the mailing date, she can come to our office to pick-up a packet in-person or contact us to request that we mail another packet.

If you have further inquiries, please do not delete your original email with all correspondence.

Sincerely,

Congratulations Mr2nice! Must be a great feeling to be so close. I am not to far behind you. It looks like it took 11 days from NVC to the embassy sending you the email. NVC sent my petition on 11/15, so hopefully the embassy will have it by the end of this week.

Did you send an email to the embassy, or did they send it on their own? Unfortunately, the embassy in Thailand does not send a notification when they receive the petition, they just send out packet 3. I will send them an email at the end of the week to see what is happening. Like you, I already have the necessary packet 3 forms completed and ready to go.

Good luck!

Thanks afterforever. Like you said, it's a good sign to finally see the case on the move. I actually emailed the HCM Consulate back on 10/30 to inquire if they received our case because one of the CSC operator had told me that our case skipped NVC and sent to HCM directly. I'm surprise to see that they kept my email and replied back yesterday. I hope you will hear good news and I think once you can find out that they have sent out Packet 3, try and see if you can submit it in person. I'm not sure if Thai Embassy allow you to do that, but I do know that HCM Embassy allow us to pick up the packet as well as return it to their office in person. Once we found out that Packet 3 was mailed out to us, we know we can now go ahead and turn in the DS-230 Part 1 form, which my fiancee will do tomorrow.

Good Luck!

I sent an email off to the US Embassy in Thailand today to inquire about my case. It may have been to early to send an email but what the heck. Unfortunately, the embassy in Thailand will not let you come in to pick up, or drop off paperwork. Everything is done throught the mail. It makes it harder because the mail system is very slow there and not reliable at all. If I do not get a reply soon, I will email again.

Like you, when we know that packet 3 has been sent we will send in the DS-230 Part one.

Good luck!
