I have applied for my husband (I-130) ... and was almost complete with the whole process until we needed to change embassies because he moved to a different country. So I wrote them a letter requesting the embassy be changed to Amman, Jordan (where he is currently residing) .. and I submitted all the proof of residence they wanted.. and since them its been more then a month and things are still standing still. I called and they told me that the process of changing embassies can take quite a while.

So the thing is... I am due in the beggining of January with our first baby and it doest look like he will make it in time for the delivery :( ..so I was thinking what if he applies for a visit visa now..? So he can be here for atleast the delivery. Does anyone have any experience with visit visas? How long it would take to get it and is it a lot of paperwork? If we were to apply for a visit visa in November..do u think he could get it by January? would it effect the I-130 ? What is the process?

I would ask this in the appropriate regional forum. Males from the Middle East wishing to visit the USA, often have great difficulty obtaining visas.

You're going to run into red tape/bureacracy I'm afraid:(

Nothing is going to stop him from applying and maybe receiving a visa. He can travel if it is valid. BUT when he gets to the border, border patrol is going to see the pending paperwork you have for him, and he is very likely to be denied entry. Border patrol will think that he is going to come to stay on his visitor's visa while the paperwork is pending and just wait for green card here in USA. (they frown upon jumping processes, etc)

The only way around it is if your husbnad can PROVE sufficient ties to his home country. (house, owning a business, etc, etc) to try to prove to border patrol that he does intend to go back.

Sorry to say this, but I ran into the same situation with my husband and I even called border patrol myself and that is what they told me:(

Just curious was Amman able to have the case transferred without your husband having to go in person to request it transferred? My fiance had to travel to Jordan to fill out the paperwork to have the case transferred. Amman told us there was no other way to do it but for him to show up in person.

They told him hopefully he should have an interview in the next two months.

Good luck!
