We don't have W-2, How important is W-2???

What are the documents that the CO will need to get or have???please help

as i remember..all the posted interview experiences of previous K1 applicants I've seen , W2 was submitted in the pre-screener.

for my case, the pre-screener took my fiance's 2006 W2 & 2006 ITR.

you might want to check my MY INTERVIEW EXPERIENCE, since I mentioned there the list of documents I prepared & submitted to the pre-screener.

the year that my fiance doesnt have W2,since he was deployed in the Middle East..i secured a copy of his Military Order, just in case this matter will be raise in my interview...Having a work assignment in middle east means free tax to them.

goodluck!

You dont have to submit your W-2 because you are the benificiary their concern is the W-2 of the petitioner attached in his Income Tax Returns.

as long as you can prove to them that your SO can support you. there will be no problem. good luck on your upcoming interview. i suggest tell your SO to make an employment letter stating in there his/her annual income.

This response is just in the regards of the I-134 Affidavit of Support:

Please see Packet 4 under # 2. Required Documents, but specifically:

k. EVIDENCE OF SUPPORT. You should be able to demonstrate that you will not become a public charge or be a burden on the U.S. taxpayers for financial support. Submit your petitioner’s most recent U.S. Federal income tax return (Form 1040) and wage statements (Form W-2). Employment letters stating salaries and bank statements may be included. A completed I-134 Affidavit of Support Form will be useful to the consular officer to evaluate your petitioner’s ability to be financially responsible for you.

NOTE: The above is an except from most recent Packet 4, which can be obtain electronically from the USE website. Maybe just having transcripts from the IRS will cover not having the W2s. However, I would think that it would be a good practice to at least provide the minimum requested (especially if it's spelled out in black and white). If I were the CO, I would put you on AR until the W2s are provided.

Cheers!!!

Have him contact his previous Employer, they should be able to give him a copy of his W2 very quickly, and then he can fax you that also.

This is what I wrote:

If I were the CO, I would put you on AR until the W2s are provided.

According to Packet 4, the W2s are required to accompany the evidence of support (I-134). So If I were a CO at the USE, and the beneficiary's came without it, I would put them on AR. However, I'm not a CO, and there have been folks that did not submit any W2s that are approved. My whole point is that I would rather be safe than sorry and at the least provide what is clearly and explicitly listed in the instructions than to gamble your precious time hoping to skate by on a formality that could easily be avoided. I'm sure that one day there will be a CO that is as ####### as I am that will eventually ding these folks that overlook clear cut instructions by placing them on AR. That's my point and my five cents.

Can someone please give me back my change?

Cheers!!!

Sheriff Uling

p.s. As stated "TinTin and Samby" below the W2s are not applicable to the following that I did not originally address but should have:

For those petitioners that are not EMPLOYEES , such as Self Employed Petitioners or Retired Petitioners, their income would be validated via other forms, not W2s. I think the point (which you are correctly making) is that Proof of Income is required, be that WAGE INCOME (W2), SELF EMPLOYED INCOME (either 1099 or Corporate Annual SEC Filings) or RETIREE INCOME (1099 - Interest or Dividend, IRA or 401 Distributions , etc).
