Filing the K1 Visa in the UK

Hello everyone. My second question involves another item I cannot find an answer to after exhaustive internet research: I read that there is no way for me (American) to go to the UK and marry my fiance', then file the K3 spousal visa. I read that we can only go through the K1 fiance' visa route. Is this correct? Thanks again.

Yes you can marry then file the K3

You may want to check the guides at the top of the page, as i did the K1 i cannot be of anymore help to you i`m afraid, but you can get all the information you need from the guides

You can marry your fiance in the UK by applying for a Visit For Marriage visa at your local UK consulate. Then you can file for K-3 or CR-1.

Is this so? I never knew this. I have more hope now. I have never heard of a "visit for marriage" visa. Thank you

Yes, her fiance is Nigerian but a long-term UK resident. She mentioned it in another post.

I am sorry. I am new here. I should have phrased my question with more background info included. Thank you for asking. Yes, he is a Nigerian who has lived in the UK for almost 16 years. He received his education in the UK and has worked as an architect there for many years. With all that, he is still living there with a worker's visa. That is why I was so confused. I believe I understand it all now.

I have to say that after a review of the K3 and K1 filers timelines, it is quicker to go through the K1 then the K3. Although there is a lot to do to prove your relationship. The K3 seems to be catching up with K1 though.

We are indeed going for the K1. I am preparing now for my next visit to the UK. I will be leaving 10th January, and I am very excited. I spent the entire month of June in Nigeria. And yes, I heard hundreds of times that "I am welcomed" I felt so comfortable in Nigeria. I believe that only people who have visited there can understand. It is hard to put into words. I look forward to our planned annual visits after we are married.
