If you move to another country it is for you to LEARN that language and their laws. And if you want your home countrys flag to be on the top stay in your own country. I have nothing aginst any country and if any one wants to come to America fine but do it to be an american otherwise stay out. Illegal or not!!

Should the american flag fly lower than another nations flag at the embassy in the other country?

As far as the laws... as shown in the video posted, it doesn't take an immigrant to ignore those.

There are plenty of americans who move to other countries for however long to work... should those americans living abroad forgo patriotism to america and fly that nations flag above the american flag while living there?

LPR's do not have to become American Citizens. Are you suggesting they are not welcome should they choose not to do so?

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

You know what I find amazing. How did 12 million people enter your country and you didn't notice?

Or you did but it was convenient for a while to have them all there - but it's not anymore as they might like some rights.

The Gov. of the U.S. could have stopped illegal immigration across the border years ago - they chose not to.

That is not possible with partisan politics. They received amnesty back in the 80's which clearly failed as it simply opened the flood gates.

On top of that you have states and counties doing as they please as congress drags their feet on the issue. On one hand you have counties, which just passed laws, restricting public services being used by illegal immigrants and on the other you have other various states which are giving them licenses and access to all public services.

I'm not buying the partisan argument. Many countries operate this way and still manage to take care of important business.

The amnesty was 21 YEARS ago and it still hasn't been sorted out.

ETA: I believe it's proper etiquette to fly the US flag at the same height as other country flags (on separate poles) though I believe it's supposed to fly on the right.

From USflag.org: When flown with the national banner of other countries, each flag must be displayed from a separate pole of the same height. Each flag should be the same size. They should be raised and lowered simultaneously. The flag of one nation may not be displayed above that of another nation.

True form written above. Good searching there.

Illegal all the way around and also disrespectful. No other nation flag should ever be higher than an other nation flag. That is respect to both nations. Here in the USA not nation flag can not be on display without the USA flag also on display. Again going back to respect for the nation you are in at the time. The only except is Embassory where they fly thier own nation flag as the land belongs to that nation. Have a would and great day. God bless America, the land of the free.:innocent::thumbs:

Again properly said.

Looks like some Southern folk need to learn a little flag etiquette too...

maybe someone should learn their state flags.......and why this one in particular can be flown like that ;)

bullet Is Texas's the only state flag allowed to fly at the same height as the US flag?

No, this is an urban legend. All state flags may fly at the same height as the U.S. flag. The U.S. flag must be on its right (the viewer's left), however. Texas's laws are consistent with those of the other states.

The main point is............. Don't get your panties in a bunch. Flag or not; it's only a piece of cloth. History is done with. Learn from it, but live for now.

Funny how the victim in the Jena 6 case was not regarded in the same way, by some cough cough, when it came to being a victim..

Whistle indeed. I don't believe I said anything about the beaten kid not being a victim.

The store owner knew exactly what he was doing.

Sure - going about his daily business, when some a$$hole decided to vandalise his property.

Which again appears to have nothing whatsoever to do with the shop owner.

He took the flag down and did not touch the store owner....

So what? How do we go from a business owner flying a Mexican flag to illegal immigration? Honestly I don't see anything here but the most tenuous of connections.

This man did nothing wrong - and just because some idiotic a$$hole pretending to be a "loyal patriot" comes along and decides he doesn't like it, he thinks that justification to commit a crime. Well #### him.

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

"Both my parents were born in Mexico, and they moved to the United States a year before I was born, so I grew up in the United States... my parents were Mexican."

"Wow, that is a great story. That's the American dream right there, right? Um, let me ask you, is there a term besides 'Mexican' that you prefer? Something less offensive?"

oh the shame

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

It's an urban legend (and a completely false one at that!) which says the Texas state flag is allowed to be flown at the same height as the U.S. flag. Don't believe me? That's fine. But maybe you'll believe SNOPES when they say it's "false" too. ;)

As for the other comments in this thread... I see nothing wrong with flying the U.S. flag and another nation's flag at equal heights. You're giving equal respect to both nations. This is done in many places (i.e. universities, hotels, government buildings, etc) and no insult is intended by it at all. I think there are far more important things in the world to worry about today than whose flag is flown higher or whose is larger. In the grand scheme of life, that's trivial.

ok if y'all don't remember the previous post.. the owner of the restaurant is a USC!! and.. wow.. supporting a veteran acting like a little b!tch over a flag issue.. as I stated before, what a shame for veterans, being one doesn't mean you can act like a 15 year old teenager and have a fit and go all rambo with a knife and cut the flag... civil disobedience my #######, that's not civil disobedience, I'm hoping he'll get charged.. that guy is a punk and needs to go back to the retirement home.. he seems he got stuck in 'nam or something..

I don't think being American means go and vandalize some dudes property because you don't like it (justifying it as a 'civil disobedience' plizzz) or because you think you're challenging 'an invasion'..

It does go a long way to showing how much prejudice is out there.

Yes it does. It's incredibly strange that anyone thinks what this guy did is ok.
