Didn't we already have a thread about this divided into camps of 'couldn't he have informed them about the rules of flag flying rather than committing vandalism?' and 'OMG THE ILLEGAL CRIMINAL ALIENS ARE COMING TO GET US!!!!!1'

Wow, better go remove the Canadian flag we have flying on our balcony right next to our American one. Especially since while they fly at the same height, the Canadian flag is a little bit bigger.

We were actually a little concerned that someone in our apartment building would complain, but we have gotten nothing but compliments about it. Only thing that pisses D off is that everyone thinks that *I* am the Canadian.

I also wonder whether this guy's reaction was prompted because it was specifically a Mexican flag, with all the connotations that people seem willing to attach to that.

I wonder if he'd go so postal over the Union Jack that flies at the same height as the US flag in front of Burberrys department store downtown here... hmmm

So what if he was flying the Mexican and American flags side-by-side - for those of you who think the American flag should be flown higher in this instance, would you still find side-by-side offensive or is that okie dokie?

yes, it's offensive.

So you'd be offended by the following displays?

shopping_mall.jpg

walk_way.jpg

not at all...because it's photobucket and i can't see photobucket at work :D

in another country, the us flag may be flown lower. in the usa, the us flag is higher. not really difficult to grasp i'd think.

well I guess you'd better go picket all those U.S. parks, museums, airports, and other public places where flags of the world are displayed all at the same height.

must be a bummer having to worry about these things...

more of a bummer that people don't know flag etiquette.........nor do some care.

Only thing that pisses D off is that everyone thinks that *I* am the Canadian.

i always thought you were too

indeed....

we go to great Brit ex-pat pub that I'd be surprised if they even have a US flag.... or it would be hard to find amongst the Brit flags and all of the premier league team scarves lol

Side note... GO ENGLAND tomorrow in the rugby world cup final!!!

*Points to American flag next to the name KJ below...*

ETA: I believe it's proper etiquette to fly the US flag at the same height as other country flags (on separate poles) though I believe it's supposed to fly on the right.

From USflag.org: When flown with the national banner of other countries, each flag must be displayed from a separate pole of the same height. Each flag should be the same size. They should be raised and lowered simultaneously. The flag of one nation may not be displayed above that of another nation.

Flag etiquette?

I've been out to plenty of restaurants and seen people demonstrating atrocious table manners. Doesn't mean I'd presume to take them to task over it.

Perhaps the guy in the OP post should have learned to respect other people's property (something that most people learn in Kindergarten).

side by side as long as the usa flag is higher (within the usa of course ;))

as for the vet, he went too far in regards to taking the flag plus the destruction of the rope when he took it down.
