Awww I'm sorry.

I don't have the answer for you, I'm sorry. I'm sure someone will know for sure the time period. It's coming by mail so...depending on where you live could be close to a week or more...maybe even less than a week...

Did you send in a copy of both your birth certificates? Copy of USC's passport and all pages? Copies of Divorce papers (If applicable)? Passport photo's of both you and your fiance?

You'll know what you need to send in soon...

Laura_Z,

If replied to quickly - the delay in your processing should be fairly short - you don't go back to the end of the line.

Try to calm yourself down as much as you can and call and ask what the RFE is for. It may not be for more proof of the relationship. You may have just forgotten to sign a form or left out information or something like that. It could be a really simple fix. One guy didn't check a box yes or no and they sent an RFE. You can call and ask them what the RFE is for if it's stressing you out waiting and not knowing. That may help calm you and then you can just focus on doing what they ask and sending it back to them as soon as possible.

Good Luck!

as a few have noted in the past: an RFE is at least proof that someone is working on your case ;)

yes, I know - VERY determinedly 'glass half full', but true nonetheless...

I hope you get it sorted very quickly, Laura - I know you must be stressed, but DON'T take it as proof of them not liking you or similar; none of this procedure is personal :)

The Very Secret Diary of Legolas Son of Weenus - by Cassandra Claire

Day One: Went to Council of Elrond. Was prettiest person there. Agreed to follow some tiny little man to Mordor to throw ring into volcano. Very important mission - gold ring so tacky.

Day Six: Far too dark in Mines of Moria to brush hair properly. Am very afraid I am developing a tangle.

Orcs so silly.

Still the prettiest.

Day 35: Boromir dead. Very messy death, most unnecessary. Did get kissed by Aragorn as he expired. Does a guy have to get shot full of arrows around here to get any action? Boromir definitely not prettier than me. Cannot understand it. Am feeling a pout coming on.

Frodo off to Mordor with Sam. Tiny little men caring about each other, rather cute really.

Am quite sure Gimli fancies me. So unfair. He is waist height, so can see advantages there, but chunky braids and big helmet most off-putting. Foresee dark times ahead, very dark times.

sorry to hear that.. maybe u should prepare your own documents/supporting materials, or at least review everything the lawyer prepares.. i've heard so much bad experience by bringing a lawyer in. obviously so many lawyers out there can't catch up with all the updated requirements and yet they believe they know what they are doing (as if!)

Laura,

when you call USCIS - they can only tell you that RFE went out, not the reason for it. Silly but that's the way they do it! However, I would suggest you talk to your lawyer - make sure you find out from her who will get mail from USCIS - you or her!!! Then keep calling HER every day untill she gets your RFE if she is the 'contact" which I guess she is!

You sound like you are not too happy with her work anyway... so make sure you take charge of your case - either by pushing her to do her work or taking over from her. Once she gets your RFE - you insist on giving you a copy so you know exactly what USCIS is asking for! Or if you receive it... just send info back as soon as you can.

To 'fire" a lawyer - you simply write a note to USCIS saying you want to be the one receiving all correspondence and managing your case yourself, due to inefficiency of the lawyer. I had same problem at my visa application stage and we ended up almost at the end of response time for RFE but once we started doing stuff ourselves it all turned around.

Oh yeah... you might want to write a note to your lawyer as well - about her services not being required any more! And ask your money back! Maybe? ;)

Above all... try not to stress over it too much! Good luck!
