I love the Canadian Forum

Sometime i feel like we are the people with the most common sense (seriously)...

Well, i still have the right to be crazy i am french from france too :P (after all in the i want her out thread i said that sometime you wonder by how true are thoses relationships when you see a tiny cute 19 yo philippino 110lb against a big 350lb 50 yo... that's so shamefull to have said it!.. damn it ! it's true !!!)

And no i don't judge that much because anyway, i am the bigger one between the two !

Anyway i will know in about 20 min if the packet 3 reach the place it suppose to reach and i m going nuts!!!!!

$1,000 in repairs for the car today :( Guess I shouldn't complain much, I have had the car for 5 years now and have only needed to replace the battery once, get new brake pads once since I bought it. But, that is a hefty bit of cash (I live by cash and refuse to put anything on credit cards) and I can already feel my wallet getting lighter as I think about it.

Stoopid timing belts!!! :protest::protest:

What kind of car and what was the mileage? Timing belts are easy (a few skinned knuckles and a pry bar will do it) but a timing chain is a b*tch. $1000 for a timing chain replacement is not exorbitant. It is a very labour intensive job, first you need to pull the engine..... :crying:

Oh I'm sure he will be. He's really diplomatic.

 Yes, he is nothing if not diplomatic. :innocent:

Yep, sorry, timing chain. Its a 2001 Jetta (I love my Jetta even when it's broken). I really just took it in because it has a water leak (pretty mild one but often annoying because once a month it causes the temp dummy light to trigger which triggers me to add 15oz of water) and it has an interior light on the door panel that doesn't ever turn off. After all this, the timing chain, a ####### thingy for the water leak, an oil change, and a couple of fuses, its going to be about $1100.

Hey, it's not so bad, you can always write off the repair expense. As long as the head gasket wasn't leaking and the leak was limited to the water neck or the water pump gasket (I don't remember the layout of the engine on the Jetta) and the timing chain only stretched (if it lets go, it could destroy the engine or at least bend the valves, etc) you should get many more miles from the vehicle but timing chains are good for only 100,000 miles or so. Personally, I'd go with the s.179 depreciation and buy a luxury p/u truck, since the $25,000 SUV limit doesn't apply to trucks. But if you luv the Jetta...

I would go broke just trying to keep gas in one of those right now. $3.00/gallon and rising. Sheesh!

So, when are solar powered cars going to make it to the market?

Thats why I just stay in here, lol

Flames, I'm with ya...I'm regretting venturing out in the big scary K1 forum...it's so terrifying out there!!! HOLD ME!

Damn , I goto class and I miss so much!! lol

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Len sis darling,

If you stated why the blues, then I missed it and I am sorry to not know or remember.

However, you need to:

assume the position!!!

Now.

The sweet meditative loving pose in your signature.

Go deep and find your personal nirvana. :luv:

Find a happy time and a happy place and just see it in your mind's eye.

If this doesn't work, enjoy the chocolate basket from your sweet bro! :D

SpiritAlight edits due to extreme lack of typing abilities. :)

You will do foolish things.

Do them with enthusiasm!!

Don't just do something. Sit there.

I've been helping my bro' pick a suitable vehicle and even though he wants a 'vette, one of his associates is getting a new 620hp 'vette, it looks like he needs to settle for a truck with only a measly 450hp. Life just isn't fair. :crying::lol: I only wish solar powered cars would get to market.
