Ahem, yeah, well, it's too early for real substance, but I've got one:

(a vent)

(No offense to people here in this darling Canada Forum.)

Why why why do people call their SO's the hubby, the wife, the girlfriend, the boyfriend....??

I SOOOOO COMPLETELY AGREE!!!!!!!! It's like the person is no longer a person, but an object.. bothered me for SOOO long.. At my old job I used to lecture the guys about it.. and tell them from a female perspective how that made me feel. and correct them saying.. you should say "my wife" or "my girlfriend" not "the wife" :bonk:

So since I call Bren "the redhead", that makes me a bad person??????:unsure:I also call him hot buns  and he just gives me the  "are you crazy?" look.

Recipe will come later. Totally forgot about it.

Terms of enrearment.

You know us Canadians! We are always so pleasant! :innocent:

Hehehe, my fiance HATES that stereotype!

I hate that "the" ####### too. Especially "the mrs." Gaaaaahhhh!! Granted, I think most people only use it when being facetious. If it is obviously a bit of a pisstake, it doesn't bother me.

Bird poo in my bird bath --- hehe, that's a new one for me. A friend of mine is a birder. I'm going to have to tell him about that one!

IR5, are you asking about buying a bread maker or whether to use one the next time you make bread? If the former, I say go for the bread maker. As you said, it is easier. Doesn't mean you can't bake bread the old fashioned way on occasion if you have time and want to blow off some steam by baking.

On a related note, should I register for wedding gifts? I and my fiance are both middle aged home owners combining two households, not young people starting out our adult lives from scratch, but there are some things I wouldn't mind getting for the house that I don't already have (like a bread maker, coffee machine, and waffle iron --- things I don't use now because it is only me --- and more sheets and towels for the guest room and dishwasher safe dishes with service for 8).

IT'S TOO COLD OUTSIDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

^^^^^ Now see, that is a vent!!

Ok, I am going to start a recipe thread.

IR5, I have never made bread with a bread maker, however, I think you are a bread maker person.

I already started it. I used to bake bread old skool but lately I haven't even used the bread maker. I remember my misadventures trying to use my oven recipes in the bread maker for the first time. That dough just wouldn't stop rising.

I had a bread machine way back in the 90s.

The difference?

Well the machine is: pour shtuff in and go away for 4-5 hours.

Tiny squishy loaf ready.

Baking your own bread from dough you are cultivating lovingly from scratch, i.e. sourdough yummm, well, that is an art and a craft. Not for the feint of heart...a skill to be proud of.

I am not allowing myself to learn nor bake bread.

It is my weakness.

What? Superman had kryptonite and I have baguettes!

:D

Little known fact: Marie Antoinette really said "Let them eat fruitcake." Another little known fact: I am quite often full of b.s.

I had to go get lunch too.

With enough rum anything is palatable. Just kidding, your Mom's fruitcake sounds wonderful. I have had some fruitcake that was pretty good in the past. (stop looking at me like I'm a monster  )
