The grocery stores were a zoo yeterday morning. Apparently a tiny bit of snow in Atlanta casues everyone to rush to the stores and buy all the milk and bread that you can find. The cashier was shocked that I just wanted to pick up some ice cream to cheer my husband up a little.

There's an article on abc news website about the "shock" of Mrs. Obama's choice of attire in her official portrait. Are you guys ready - she's showing bare arms in the photo! I know, how shocking and horrible eh!? Look at some of these quotes:

The nation's first spouse, who often dons sleeveless attire, dared to show off her limbs in the picture that graces her Web site and was released Sunday.

But some are criticizing the South Side Chicago native for her choice of attire, calling it too informal and out of season.

Obama's black dress with a strand of white pearls around her neck is just the most recent of her fashion choices that have featured her exposed arms.

Exposed arms!? OH MY GOD! That's shocking and so awful!

Seriously the media here is laughable and really pathetic. There aren't more important things to report on than the first lady wearing a sleeveless dress? She looks damn hot, good for her! I'd show off my toned arms if I looked like her.

You do have my sympathy today Kathryn. We have no snow up here today. Even though I hate it so much, at least we expect it, in the deep south it is very out of place and can really mess with things....Plus its yucky. Hopefully things will clear up for you soon though. I'll have Wes send some sunshine your way, since he got back to CA hes been griping about the heat lol.

Ah thanks everyone, for the sympathy. It snowed 12 hours yesterday and then froze solid. Joe had to chip the ice off of his car this morning and the extra time made him miss his bus. I still had to chip off the snow from my car at 10:30 even though the sun was beating down. Cold weather for the next few days and really cold at night but then back to the 60s by the weekend.

Carla, we can certainly commiserate. My one tooth was so abscessed that it drained for over an hour. It currently has a temporary filing and the final one will be put in in two weeks. It doesn't hurt anymore, though. The other tooth that had the root canal didn't hurt before - and now it does! I just hope it is because the very apex of the tooth got irritated and will settle down with the antibiotics and vicodin - yep, I get to use vicodin for a painkiller! Of course, I am worrying that the root canal on that tooth didn't take and it will need to be redone or have surgery . . .! I have a lot of problems with my teeth - have all of my life even though I looked after them. Used to drive me nuts that I would go to the dentist and have a handful of cavities and my brother - who never brushed his teeth unless forced to and who never looked after them - had perfect check ups. It just isn't fair! Anyway 1 1/2 hours and lots of freezing - it wasn't as bad as I was expecting and it is good to be out of pain. Now if the other tooth would just settle down I'll be a happy camper.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

How ridiculous! Have you seen her arms? They're awesome! She's a gorgeous woman, in great shape and her arms are spectacular.

So many things American society concentrates on that aren't a big deal. Why would this be a problem? Who even cares? Her dress was appropriate.

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

ah that's such bs! That is one thing I hated about living in apartments, you never know who you are going to get stuck with in the building. I hope someone knocks down their door, like the police, and tells them to leave the premises. That is who the new owner should be contacting at this point.

My wife once lived in an apartment where the people living parallel to her had sex at odd hours. During a weeknight, for instance, they'd decide to do the horizontal bop at 3AM. Needless to say, that irritated my wife since she was trying to get some sleep. It didn't help matters that my wife and I only got to visit each other every four months.

Do people not do research? Do people not READ?

Read? On the Internet? What next? Spelling and grammar?

I don't like taxes. I was hoping for a refund and owe $500. :crying: I wanted a new camera body. . . . . . sigh.

I can't imagine anyone likes taxes. Well, except maybe the government.

Western society, in general, concentrates on many less-than-important facets of life.

But Americans are professionals. Tell me Deadpool, you have been in Canada several months, do you have any idea what Stephen Harper's wife looks like...what her name is even?

Phil doesn't seem to be adjusting well to this depression medicine his doctor put him on. He's been complaining of dizziness since he started taking it last Wednesday. Yesterday, he even had a co-worker drive him home from work because he was too dizzy to drive. Of course, the stubborn man refuses to to call his doctor. He's determined to suffer until his appointment in two weeks.

Why is his general practictioner medicating him anyways? Is that normal here? In Bermuda, your doctor will send you to a psychiatrist if you need meds for any mental health condition.

Totally normal for a Dr. to medicate in my experience. I never saw a psychiatrist in my life and have been on anti-depressants 2x's And as far as the side effects, it's quite common to take a couple of tries before they get the right meds. he should be chatting with his Dr. for sure... but it's common to try a couple ones before you hit the right med.
