argh, so we finally got the car back today and to me it seems like it still wants to overheat..

I tested it out with the AC on and it slowly started heating up..

they said to bring it back if we have any problems but we won't be able to until Friday or Saturday as I have to work tomorrow.. I can't miss anymore days...

I will see how it does tomorrow without the AC on...

here in Cali you need AC in the car.. yeah you can drive with your windows open but then you smell car fumes etc... and half the time you are sitting in traffic so there is no air movement :P

I'm sooo sick and tired of hearing about octomom.... I wish she'd go away!

Stop watching reality t.v. then :P

good to know.

And knowing is half the battle!

Wasn't that the line they used at the end of G.I. Joe cartoons when they were trying to teach a lesson?

I wish it was that easy.... she's all over the internet, even reputable news orgs are discussing octomom.... on the evening news too, magazine covers I see in the grocery store

Yeah, I hear ya there. It's a little hard to make an impact as a single person. However, I do my part. I refuse to watch any reality television. I held this up, even when I knew someone who was a contestant on Survivor. I'd like to think that we should expect more from networks. A little more effort, a little more ingenuity, and a little more intellect. I keep coming back to an old Arnold Schwarzzenager movie called "The Running Man". This was a movie from about 20+ years ago about a reality show in which convicts had to run a deadly gauntlet for the ultimate prize..... a pardon.

Ah, hello Vent!

So I'm sick with strep throat. It's yummy in my mouth right now. :D

Also, when we did our taxes a few weeks ago we filed for the Federal First Time Home Buyer's credit. It is a $7500 credit which you must pay back to the federal government over the next 15 years. Basically, they take $500 from your tax return every year for the next 15.

Well, we just found out that with the stimulus bill, if you buy a house starting Jan. 2009, the First Time Home Buyer's Credit is not only increased to $8,000, BUT YOU DON'T HAVE TO PAY IT BACK.

So, we closed our house Dec. 10th...it we would have waited, we would have been 8 grand the richer.

Oh yeah..

And I'm sick. and at work. and my head is going to explode.

If you're taking antibiotics (which you probably are since it's strep), make sure to eat yogurt. Antibiotics kill off bacteria, both good and bad. Yogurt helps to replenish the "good" bacteria to some degree. It's not perfect, but it can help and it's better than doing nothing.

Antibiotics are one of the main reasons women get yeast infections. Bacteria naturally keep fungal infections at a minimum, but with the removal of all bacteria, these fungal infections can occur easily.

For the record, fungal infections due to antibiotics can happen to men too (it's simply less common). I took antibiotics for strep throat, ignored the yogurt and got candidiasis in my mouth and throat. I had to get some orally-applied fungal medication.

Anddd since we are on the subject, the reason yoghurt helps is because it contains acidophilus - well some of it does - some just contain another pro-biotic that isn't as helpful as acidophilus.

Anyhoo acidophilus is available as a supplement - if you take it while taking antibiotics you should take it - time wise - as far away from your other pill time as possible. They even have it in chewable form now.

Hope you feel better soon Amanda!

Ensure u take ALL the antiobiotics as prescribed, as untreated strep can lead to serious cardiac problems!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

This is a dog vent.... OK so as soon as I arrived here, my husband really wanted to get a dog. He is a dog person, has had dogs his whole life (I've never had one). We discussed it in length and I agreed that we can get a dog, but it has to be an adult dog rescued from a shelter. I'm not willing to get a puppy and train it, I don't want to housetrain a puppy simple as that. An adult dog that needs a good home and is already trained, that is fine and since I'm not working yet it's a perfect time. So anyway, Glen assured me we could have a dog here (we live in a duplex and our neighbor downstairs has one, also Glen lived in this unit 3 years before I arrived). We finally found THE ONE, it was a beautiful older mini poodle named Sandy. Her owners went through foreclosure and abandonded her, she was about to be euathanized at the SPCA when a no-kill shelter rescued her. She is now at a foster home, and I spoke with the foster Mom who described how loving, sweet, well behaved and great Sandy was. Perfect for us I thought. We were going to meet Sandy on Saturday at the foster home it was all set up. We were filling out the application and it asks for the landlord's # if renting so they can confirm you're allowed dogs. I e-mailed our landlord to confirm I could give them her # and she replies with this:

"I wish I knew that you guys were interested in getting a dog before I rented to Clara (new neighbor downstairs) There is an association rule that there is only one dog allowed per duplex. I feel really bad, if I knew you were interested in getting a dog I wouldn't have rented to someone with a dog downstairs.

I don't know if you ever saw a copy of the rules and regulations for the developement, I've attached a copy for you. See 14b for the dog rule."

GAHHHHHH I am so pissed off because I suggested months ago we should check with the landlord first and Glen assured me we were allowed dogs. After finally finding one and on the verge of getting her, that's when we find out we can't. I wish I had listened to my instincts and checked beforehand. Now I feel awful I have to tell the foster family no, and my husband is really upset because he wanted a dog so bad. The landlord also said she told Glen when he moved in here years ago only 1 dog per duplex but he obviously forgot that important piece of information.

It's a stupid rule, I'm sure it's just so tenants don't have like 5 or 6 dogs in the apt.

That's what I said, I was like why do men overlook everything? He got a copy of the rules when he moved in and he never read them. SHEESH takes a woman to get it right!! :P

I'd be curious to see what rule 14B actually says. Does it say specifically 1 animal per Duplex or does it say 1 animal per unit. Because I'd make the argument if it says unit, that unit means each rental, not the building as a whole.

Plus with a small dog, its counts as half. If they have a small dog too, it should count as half. Then that makes one whole dog. I'm reaching now. . . .

I just talked to Glen at work and he's going to call and plead (i.e. beg)... I'm not good at doing that, I'm not a very forward agressive person, even though it's not arguing I don't want to call her, I'd be a horrible lawyer!

Their dog is really small, a pomeranian.

So this is exactly what it states:

14. Each Unit Owner shall be responsible for the behavior of his pet, and shall promptly repair any damage done by, and clean up any mess made by, such pet at the Property. Dogs must be kept under leash at all times when taken outside of the Unit and must be “curbed” away from the buildings. Fines will be assessed. Dog rules as follows:

a) Owners living on the premises may have a dog

There shall be one dog allowed per duplex

c) Maximum with shall be no more than 35 pounds.

d) Owners must have a clause in their leases, signed by the tenant, that they shall abide by the rules and regulation of Justa Farms Woods and indicating they must adhere to the association dog policy and the township ordinance

Booooo to the stupid rules!
