Don't ever lose your green card. Seriously. I know no one intends to, but still... just... don't do it.

I don't care what the #### USCIS says about carrying your green card on you at all times. If they're going to charge $370 for a replacement green card, then we are NOT carrying it on us at all times and they can kiss my white American @ss if they have a problem with it. Réjean will carry a photocopy of his green card with him at all times and if it is ever needed, then and ONLY then will we show the actual card. End of f*cking story.

08/25/06 - 08/08/07 - K1 timeframe from mailing the petition to the NSC to K1 approval at the Montréal Consulate

08/31/07 - Réjean makes the big move to the USA

I knew I didn't want a bustle either, but I ended up having one. It was pretty much the only dress that didn't make me look like a disco ball, I didn't want beading or sequence either. I wanted them to take the bustle off, but they didn't in the end.

I hated the bustle though, I have pretty big hips and junk in the trunk, so I didn't need a freaking bustle accentuating it.

Hey guys! Thank you for the advice! Our wedding will be most likely in a church so I want a formal dress, just no train and no lace and beadwork on steroids! I wouldn't mind a little bit of beadwork, just not overpowering the dress, but NO lace! Hopefully I will find something soon!

I think I may have some hearing loss. Most people lose some hearing as they get older. But they can usually hear just fine. I don't know about me.

I can hear most sounds just fine. It's not like I miss a doorbell, get confused in conversations or can't hear someone else on the phone. My worst problem is hearing speech in TV shows and movies. I can barely make it out. In fact, last night I put subtitles on.

It may not be hearing loss because it only seems to occur when watching TV. One complaint of mine is that TV shows and movies (especially movies) jack the music and sound effects way up, but don't do a thing to help speech. To get the speech up to acceptable levels, I have to turn the volume up. Of course, this raises the music and sound effects, as well.

I really wish television sets had separate audio controls for speech, music and sound effects. Video games do this, but for some reason, TV shows and movies don't. The worst part of this is when I watch TV and I have difficulty hearing the show. Naturally, I turn the volume up and when a commercial comes on, it's blasting.

Lovely dress, Ontarkie!

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Okay, I'm really struggling with this now. As some of you know, things have been rough financially as hubby has been unemployed since August. We weren't able to visit his family in BC at American Tgiving, as we normally do. So, hubby hasn't seen his family in over a year (except for his parents visiting after the baby was born). He is dying to see them as well as introduce his family to our little boy. We had talked about trying to find a way to visit in August for his cousin's wedding. Right now, I have no vacation time left from work, but by August, I will have accrued more hours. Well, yesterday, hubby talked to his parents and they suggested that he come visit now, while he is not working. They will use their air miles to get his plane ticket and as he will be staying with them, costs will be minimal. The costs to us would be the loss of unemployment compensation for the time he is gone and purchasing travel health insurance for Declan (with his history of health problems, I feel he NEEDS to be covered just in case). On one hand, I know how important it is for my husband's mental health to get to go see his family. On the other hand, it is killing me that my little boy will be gone for a week or two. I haven't even left him overnight yet. And the petty part of me is really jealous that hubby gets to travel and visit a place that I consider one of the most relaxing settings in the world, while I have to stay behind and work as usual. And then I feel guilty for even thinking that way, because I do know that hubby would be working if there were ANY jobs in his field in this area. ARGH!!!

Timeline

My fiancé recently moved into a new apartment with another family. It's a HUGE apartment--big enough for he and I to live there together for a few months so we can find a place together once I move down. These people are nice enough, share our values and everything else. It also saves him money vs. living on his own to help build up some savings and be able to pay for visa stuff.

Right before he left to visit Canada, he became aware that they were a bit short on money. He figured it was survivable because they didn't talk to him about it--just figured they'd be buying off-brand food this month or whatever.

He returned to discover that the rent was late (he'd paid his portion already), late fees were building up and that they needed to pay even MORE money in order to get out of eviction proceedings. His flatmates asked him for 350 dollars--which he's giving them today.

Because of a paperwork error with his company, his vacation hours may be delayed in getting paid to him (they messed up something in the computer, at one point told him he had 80 hours vacation, but when he tried to cash in on them, they told him that he hadn't earned that much vacation hours. At one point they told him he'd earned no vacation hours, but now it appears he had 31 hours, so we're not sure what's going on. He's talking to HR today). That 350 dollars was supposed to go towards the initial filing of our K-1 application that we just finished filling out together during his trip! We spent HOURS filling out those forms, going over them multiple times, field by field to make sure we hadn't missed anything or messed up even one single date. And now it'll be next month before we can apply because the money he has to pay because of his flatmates' inability to be responsible has to come out of his savings because he spent so much money for nice dinners and gifts for my family and stuff while he was here.

Had they bloody told him how serious the money troubles were BEFORE he left, and asked him for a hand? He would have only been down 100 dollars (the amount they were short on rent) and he would have spent a TONNE less on his trip, just in case they ran into trouble again.

I'm so bloody angry at them for doing this. If they'd been open about the problems NONE OF THIS WOULD BE HAPPENING and we would be applying this week for our K-1. Almost two months ahead of our initial schedule.

And I feel bloody helpless to do anything about it because I am unemployed at present and holding onto what little cash I have to pay for my medical, my HPV vaccine, background checks, etc, in case I can't find a job any time soon.

March 13, 2009--Visa application handed to the post office.

March 16, 2009--Visa application received by Vermont Service Centre at 11:01 am. Let's hope that he actually put in everything he thought he did and they don't send it back to us!!

March 23, 2009--Got the whole package back. The cheque was apparently filled out incorrectly, thanks to the fact that his moronic flatmates helped him and instructed him wrong for the first cheque he ever filled out.

March 30, 2009--NOA1

August 12, 2009--Touched

September 1, 2009, received Package 1 from Montreal--but where is our NOA2???

Well, it took about three hours to go through the entire Customs idiocy to get my car legally into Canada. It is here, however. One thing I want to note is that BMW Canada says an American recall letter won't suffice for RIV. Why do they say this? Because they charge you $500 for the recall letter itself.

I went ahead and sent RIV both Form 1 and my U.S. recall letter. I received a response that same day and it was approved. I now have to bring Form 2 with me to get my car inspected.

I can't believe BMW Canada is trying to rip people off like that. I've had nothing but good experiences with BMW in Texas. Maybe I got lucky. Regardless, the recall letter I got from BMW USA was no-charge.

Oh well. At least it all worked out.

so about a week or so ago we went to buy the hubby some new shoes.. he tries on a few pairs and decides on one pair because he says they are comfortable.. he does say they are a bit snug but that he thinks they will probably loosen up.. I do remember asking him if he wanted to try the next size up but he said no...

well fast forward a week and he is complaining that his shoes are too tight

so now he says he needs new shoes.. these ones cost us about 30 dollars and I know that doesn't seem like a lot but to us it is..

and it is too late to return them because the shoes already look worn...

DeadPoolX, Unfortunately you will see that a lot around here and it is not only BMW. Some car dealers are better than others of course but it is not limited to BMW to try an rip people off. You will also notice the cars are much more expensive here :(

I started preparing everything to import my car and I got a letter of compliance from Volvo USA (Extremely fast and awesome service btw). Everything is fine and compliant on my car except one thing : my car is in km/h and I need to have it converted to mph.

Okay it is not that bad considering I can buy a US specs speedometer on ebay for something around 60$ and then have the dealer reprogram it to match the car's actual mileage (the ECU being the reference). So to me it was not a big deal and it really is not, it is a matter of 30 mins to an hour max to do everything .. EXCEPT that Canadian Volvo car dealers are asking 750$ just to reprogram it because apparently this is a fee they have to charge to prevent people from exporting cars to the US (and that statement is coming from them directly) ....

####### ? So I called Volvo USA which told me that apparently there is a "grace" period that apply .. meaning that I could move to the US and have it done there in a certain amount of time after entering the US. So I think that is what i'll do cause I really do not have any intention of paying 750$ which to me is a complete rip off :ranting:
