Oh that game is so much fun, and so useful to play RIGHT before you have to commute somewhere. At some point, you're looking for the triangle button to drag someone out of their car.

So here is my rant for the day. My religious group is a great bunch of people, like a second family. The only issue is they live all over and we really only see each other for the our gatherings. They know Wes is coming down and they ALL want to meet him. Its very flattering but he is very much a personal guy, and I'm not going to take him to each of these people's houses, nor do I want to call them all together and subject the poor guy to that. I've picked 2 people I know for sure he will get to meet (really good friends) but other people keep asking when they will get to meet him. How do I politely say we have other people to visit and things to do...and that at some point we would just like quiet time to ourselves without everyone else. I havent seen him in 4 months, I just want him for myself!!!!! I know my 2 friends will kill me if I dont introduce him to them, but I want him to meet them anyway. The rest, while nice, I don't really want to make him visit because he won't have anything in common with these people. But I also don't want to hurt anyone's feelings.

Oh I understand that.... When Glen used to come down, everyone wanted to hang out. Since we worked in the same company, all my Toronto co-workers wanted to get together for dinner/drinks when he landed in TO. Then all my friends wanted to make plans for every night. Then Mom and Sister made plans too. That is all very sweet that they want to meet my man, but we wanted some alone time hubba hubba

Yes, obligations to meet and see people is so tough, especially when time is short. I'd just say what you've already said - basically in a polite way that your time is limited on this trip. But you're slowly trying to introduce him to people with each trip. If it isn't on this one, then perhaps on the next. I am sure that they will understand. I think everyone has been home or something and knows how hard it is to catch everyone in a few short days.

That way you don't have to explain that you're worried it would be uncomfortable for him. I think your idea of introducing him to a couple of people first is a good idea. Let him ease into it, because it can be overwhelming!

I hear ya.. it happens each and every time I go home.. so many people to visit.. so little time.. Is he going to be there during a time where the group meets corporately? You could suggest people come up and say hi that day.. it's chaotic and a mess, and little meaningful conversation happens, but sometimes just putting a face to a name helps..

Other things we've tried is MSN chats with my friends (When I'm in the conversation).. Just some thoughts.. :) Hang in there.. and people honestly will get it when you explain it to them.. everyone is just excited for you and want to be in on the action!

Yeah unfortunately our last meeting was last weekend or I would have dragged him with me then. My best best friends don't live in town, they have talked with him on MSN. The other 2 aren't online much so they have talked to him a couple times but want to see him face to face which is understandable. I will go with your advice and just say time is short and because we have paperwork and stuff to do that we aren't sure when/if we will be able to meet with people. Thanks for listening guys!

This is simple. Tell everyone that while on the plane, Wes (that is his name, right?) caught the flu and can't spend much time on his feet, walking around everywhere. The fact he's "sick" will keep others from coming over and since these individuals are from all over, it's unlikely anyone would see you two out. If they do, have Wes start coughing on them.

If that doesn't work, tell them you have more important matters to attend to and if you have some spare time, you'll introduce Wes. Perhaps that's not the nicest approach, but the time you two spend together -- considering the frequency of such meetings -- overtakes meeting friends.
