 Well I figured once I swallow them, they are down in my tum tum and not going to be coming back up, uggghhhh.... I'd like to stop taking them, but the doctor made it sound really important for my health. But I won't be having fish breath on a daily basis so I think I'm stopping them already!

You can get the Omega 3's and stuff from other items. Omega 3 eggs, for one thing. I wouldn't worry too much about it if I were you.

Then don't take them!

That's hilarious that you didn't think that fish oil capsules would smell or taste like fish oil.

Well after doing a bit of googling, apparently this is a side effect of taking these pills.... "fish burps" and the only way to cure this disgusting ailment is to freeze the pills and take them frozen. Maybe I'll try that!

I used to put the omega oil in my smoothie drinks.. i know others that put it in OJ or milk.. there are other ways than the pills.. I never noticed the fishy taste doing it in smoothies to tell you the truth.

Actually, there is a Fish Oil product that I get at Target produced by Origin that is odorless and promises no 'fish burps'. So far they appear to be living up to their claim. It is a Target product so you should be able to get them at Target or through their website www.target.com. They are all natural and provide Omega-3 (EPA/DHA) and Omega-6. I get the double strength 2.400 mg size.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Walmart has the same thing also. I'm with you, I absolutely cannot stand fish. I dislike all seafood. If it comes from the water, I don't eat it. But I do take the Walmart brand Omega-3 pills every day and I don't have any problems with them.

I was going to recommend freezing them but I see that you've already read that! It works for me. You want it to be solid when it gets to your tummy so that it dissolves less quickly. That way you won't have fishy burps.

Is it more difficult to swallow a frozen pill in your opinion? The pills are HUGE, if they are frozen I might choke to death LOL

I don't know what it is.... but even looking at fish makes me queasy.... the only fish I can make for hubby is frozen breaded fish which doesn't look like fish.... and all seafood I can't stand either.... shrimp, lobster, rubbery calamari ohhh noooo!!

Jill, in my opinion it's easier to swallow it when it's frozen. It is a gel cap one right? When they're frozen they get like a little bit of ice on the outside which helps it go down easier. I always just make sure to take a good big sip of water before hand and then a large drink with the pill, just to wet the whistle!

Yes it's a gel cap! Thanks so much for the advice, before trying out a new brand I will try freezing it first.

So I just got back from Parent teacher interviews to discuss Ethan's latest report card.

He went from D's to B's. The teacher, the school and no one can understand it. She says she is still concerned about the fact that he doesn't focus though.

Obviously he is focusing on something. ####### people??? The school psychologist asked Ethan why he did so well in the past two months and his response apparently was: ""Because I felt like it" She said that is abnormal. :(

WHATS WRONG WITH MY KID!???

Its driving me nuts.

He's smart. But he only shows his smarts when he feels like it. Stubborn I tells ya. Just like his mom. :P

Nothing wrong with the kid. Which subject(s) did he improve in? If a particular subject (or even what's getting taught at the moment), that can make a huge difference.

Math, Reading and Science.

Funny thing is, he didn't improve in social studies and last year that was his A subject. Still has a C in that one. :(

He confuses me. I am taking him to cognitive behavior therapy starting next week though. I mean its more than just school I think. Talking to me is not going to help him. He's a pretty well behaved kid, but unusual, if you put a bunch of kids and adults in the same room, he'll gravitate towards the adults. Things like that make my MIL tell me that he's not normal either. I don't like being told my child is abnormal.

But whats normal? I have no idea.

I'm babbling.

Cognitive behavior therapy starts next week, and I am finally getting over my fear of allowing him to play hockey, he's going to play for a small team next month, just a small team, little travel and 3 months long. If he shows me he's dedicated I'll put him on a regular team next season.

But if he gets hurt I'll tell the world I told you so. :P jk

The difference between last year and this year might make all the difference.

Here's an example: In my freshman year of high school, we were taught algebra, U.S. history, biology and literature including Greek mythology.

I liked algebra, biology and Greek myths (although some other stuff we had to read sucked). In my sophomore year, it was geometry, world history, physics and really boring literature (at least in my opinion).

Where do you think I did the best and the worst? Maybe he likes whatever math, reading and science is being taught now, but dislikes the current social studies course has to take.

Last year social studies focused more on american history, human behaviors, black history and the presidents.

This year its kind of more or less the history of NJ... I guess that can be pretty bland. :P
