Danu, as you can tell you are hardly alone! My parents said the EXACT same things. They were concerned that it would be too big of a move for me.

My da often asked me about a work visa and I tried to explain why it would be impossible for me to get one. He still didn't really understand.

I was young and still am, and I think my parents thought me getting married would really put a damper on any of my aspirations. They just wanted me to be realistic and said Jared might not turn out to be the one. It made me SO mad when they would say that but they just wanted me to understand that things like that do happen.

They said I could absolutely come home no matter how old I get and I know that. But after the first year, when I started to get better, my parents noticed it. Now after two years and being in a decent job, they can tell I've really calmed down a lot. When I was home this Christmas my dad even made a comment that I was the calmest he'd ever seen me in my life. (I've always struggled with anxiety)

We know what you are going through. Just listen to your heart and know they are only meaning well.

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

Thanks guys, you are both completely right. I do understand my parents will miss me terribly and that they are just concerned but its so annoying. Glad I can talk to people in the same boat though :D

That is part of it too. I knew my da was saying those things to me because he didn't want me to go away. We have always been close so it was hard for him. Poor ole daaa.

Annoying it is... drove me bloody bats! I knew Mum had my best interests at heart, but I had to remind her that I'm a grown woman and can make adult decisions (most of the time) It gets easier with time, it really does. Once it settles in and they get used to it.

HUGZ. We've all been through it, Minnew. It'll work out. (F)

Thank you Krikit for listening! I hope everything will work out okay, I am just overthinking everything and driving myself nuts! I am worried our case will get held up, which I won't know until it comes, but I am worried because of his job requires a TS clearance and hoping we don't end up in extra checks or something like that. His commanders told him that it will not affect his ability to get a clearance, but will USCIS put us in extra processing time?! Ok whew I need to relax! I won't make it through this process if I am like this! *deep breath*

I know.... it's terribly nerve-wracking. You can drive yourself crazy thinking of all the "gotcha" scenarios. Just do what you can and let the rest go. Don't be so hard on yourself.

Danu, I agree with the others. Your parents are concerned and only want the best for you. Try not to let it bother you too much. It means they love you. (F)

I just watched the most obnoxious episode of Wife Swap EVER! I wanted to jump through the television and smack the arrogant pompous abusive azz upside his head. I have never been so upset by a tv show before, let alone a show that hubby and I think of as pure trashy entertainment, something to take our minds off of life. ARGH!

I watched a few minutes of that and had to turn it off. Absolutely disgusting behaviour. I hope he saw it and was thoroughly ashamed of himself. The other guy wasn't terribly impressive either.

Sometimes is the wives on that show that piss me off the most...like the one drill sergent lady with no hair who made the kids goto bed like exactly on time all the time and there was no play time, just chores. Its like she was trying to raise perfect little slaves

Either that or make her kids hate her. There needs to be rules, but kids also need time to play and have fun.

Are you talking about the British guy who thought he was all that? :|

That's the one! The thing about a high horse is..... you've got a heck of a long way to fall when you finally do fall. And you do fall. It's only a matter of time.

Well, that's a good way to ensure they move out in a timely manner. lol

I think I have pink eye .... BLECH!!!!! Declan got sick last week with both a stomach thing and a head cold, poor baby. Of course, I got the stomach thing last week and, as soon as I got over it on Thursday, I developed the head cold. Then, last night, my eye started hurting and I woke up today with a puffy icky eye and symptoms that seem very much like pink eye.

The only positive note here is that I am not going to blow my diet on horribly bad junk food for the Superbowl, as I had planned! Since I can't taste anything, there is no point in putting it in my mouth

little minor rant...

ok just to explain the situation my hubby's cell phone is in his brother's name..:P and because we got a cheaper rate, his brother's satellite radio is in my hubby's name.. but we don't get the cheaper rate anymore..

so we have been trying to cut back on expenses and hubby decided to get his brother to cancel his cell phone, we were paying about 50 bucks a month for it minus 13 bucks for the brother's satellite radio that we were paying...

his brother calls to cancel it and they offer him a deal where he can add a phone for only another 5 bucks a month which he took...

then he asks my hubby if we can just cover the difference between the satellite radio and the cell phone and my hubby says sure... :P

I guess we are still getting a good deal.. 13 bucks instead of 50 but it could be only 5 bucks... but I know it would be next to impossible to get that 8 bucks from his brother :P
