They don't sell gravol down here do they??

I remember asking my MIL about it and she looked at me all confused like.

They call it something else. Starts with a "d"..

Gravol is awesome...but I went through a time where I couldn't sleep and can honestly say I got addicted to it. I would take it every day.

 Man I have not listened to Modest Mouse in FOREVERRRZZZZZ.

Okay so here's my vent.

Yesterday at work, shite really hit the fan. I have two friends here at work who work in my office. They are AMAZING and around my age. I really enjoy working with them.

There is another lady in our department who has a controversial working history but we try to include her in our vents/opinions/thoughts/work process so she doesn't feel isolated. She works in another building and not with us because our department is large and split in various ways.

Yesterday my boss (who I'm sure you have all seen me complain about before) goes rushing into the Vice Presidents office saying that this lady told her that we all find her highly annoying (which is true) and that we talk about her behind her back. The VP was in a meeting with one of my friends.

My boss is 60 years old. She loves drama. Why would you even care?

There are so many reasons why we have to vent to each other about my boss.

-She's rude

-she doesn't have any manners (ie. sucks back her snot and eats./talks with her mouth open. She even farted last week and didn't excuse herself)

-she's very dirty (her phone is caked with dirt from her face)

-she micro-manages me

-she's confrontational; even if you approach her with a question she will right away snap back with "I gave that to you already" or "I did that right"

-when I'm talking on the phone with someone, if she doesn't like what I will say she will yell over me from her office and make me look bad

-she "shushed" me last week while talking to a student even though she has an office with a door and I only have a cubicle

I could really go on and on and the worst part is, every one that has tow ork with her feels the same way. I have never heard one person at work tell me they were fond of her before. Every one only says how hard she is to work with. She's been through 5 or 6 assistants in the last 2 years.

Any ways, the VP says to her "no comment" and that barging in his meeting with my collegue was entirely inappropriate as this could have waited.

I'm glad she knows we all find her annoying now, but I'm really disappointed in the person who we though we could trust. She complains to every one about our boss all the time, and for her to tell her that we talk behind her back but not incriminate herself in this mess is really shady. Now I knwo I can't say ANYTHING To her period.

Just frustrated.

Yesterday I had to type forms up on a TYPE WRITER. For 3 forms it took me 2 hours. I have never used a type writer in my life and it was hard to find one. She basically told me, "well this is the only way it can be done.." and didn't help me or give me any solutions other than go find a type writer and figure out how to use it.

It's just how she is. She's a very frustrating person.

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

Wow. That's not only disgusting, that's infuriating. Maybe she'll get hit by a bus. And a typewriter?!!! That's so 80's. How embarrassing.

 I'm only 24 so a type writer was way before my time. I eventually got the hang of it but it was SO tough.

I also just heard she was crying in the VP's office and told him she needs more support staff. (She already has 4 people) If she doesn't get more support staff, she has asked for one of the areas (either "transportation" or "parking") to be taken away from her and given to someone else.

That could possibly change my entire job as I work for both areas and I could possibly move offices. If that happens, I will be applying for another job. The two girls in here are the only things that keep m sane.

If she can't handle the responsibility there are other solutions available to her supervisor.

Hiya Treb - I am willing to bet that VP already knows what type of person she is (hence his reaction to her barging in). The micromanaging is just the worst part of it all - you could probably forgive (or at least ignore) the snot sucking etc :D ...so ewwww )

I found it pretty myself helpful to read up on how to deflect and deal with difficult people. There are some great tips out there and some good snappy comebacks that can stop these folks in their tracks , lthough sometimes hard to put into practice when the person is a freaking knob on a daily basis.

I'd tell the snitch that you thought they could be trusted and give them the cold shoulder when it comes to discussion abotu the boss - but maybe they did you all a favour by bringing it up to the VP - hope it pans out.

I'm thinking they did everyone a favour. They can now just sit back and watch the meltdown..... then see how the VP deals with it.

 You all make great points. I should read up on how to deal with difficult people and see if there are things I can say to sort of make things better.

She was supposed to retire in 2009 and then last year said she couldn't financially do it. (Her husband retired at 55 and has been retired now for 7 years. She makes near the 6 figure mark and she has a state pension so...honestly..she can do it she just doesn't want to be home with her husband all day.)

So it's frustrating to find out she could possibly be working for another year or 2....but I have to find a way to deal with it.

So I have my big meeting with the school on Monday. But in the mean time my son's teacher decided to send home a report about how he's getting an F in science.

YET... Ethan brings home science tests that are in the 80-90% range. ####### are they grading him on? An F is for someone who doesn't try who doesn't work. I am really livid.

And its near the end of the 3rd quarter! Why are they telling me this now!?

The chapter test he brought home on Tuesday was 93%!!! He even had a short paragraph answer and in it he was explaining pumice and where it came from. Then he got into Magma and his answer was quite cute because he was giving all this information and then he wrote: "Okay now back to pumice..." and she crosses out all the stuff about Magma and says: "Not necessary!!!" HOW CHILDISH ARE YOU!? He's trying to show you that he knows his stuff!! You're crossing it out and telling him to not expand on his thoughts and ideas?? Talk about wanting children to fit a mold. Pathetic!

What the heck?!!!!! :ranting:

Bring the evidence with you, Sprailenes. Good Lord. What kind of educational institution is this place? You know, I was thinking about this and recalled something. Education receives funding from the government. The funds are allocated based on the number of bums in seats, and those bums must reside in that school district in order for the school to receive the allocation. In Ontario you used to be able to go to another school in another district and request a transfer. If they had space they would allow you in and the funds would be transferred to that school. When more and more people started doing that, the school boards started refusing to give up the funding. So if someone wanted their child at another school badly enough, they would pay the funds out of their own pocket. It ends up to be a pretty good deal (if you disregard the fact that you are now paying twice) because it's usually only a couple of thousand $$ or so. Anyway, that's a long-winded way of me saying..... why don't you look into transferring him to another school and have them invoice you for the funding they would normallly receive from the government? That way you wouldn't have to move, and you could place him somewhere more acceptable.

Just a thought.

UGH! That is SUCH BS. You don't cross that out on a kids paper. There are 18 year olds at college that still do stuff like that. Nev, in highschool there was this science teacher who really didn't like me. I'm really not sure what it was. I wasn't her top student (I wasn't all that great at math and science) but I was still a nice kid who worked hard.

We got to do a project on bristol board and I got really into it. I researched the disease I was supposed to do and my dad helped me put it all together. I had such a nice looking project.

I got a 63...people who had worse looking boards then me got 80s. So I brought it to the principal, who was very fond of me and all that I did at the school (music, sports, etc.) and asked her why she gave me that grade. She said my board wasn't as well laid out as other students. He asked her for the board and she said, "oh..I threw it out.." So even though she knew she was meeting with us, she threw out the evidence!

Needless to say, the meeting bumped my mark and she was nice to me for the rest of the semester. My dad was SO mad though. He saw how hard I worked on that project. I was an over-achiever in highschool, but after the 10th grade realized science and math were not my strengths to dropped them and took all history and english courses.

That's horrible!! I'm sorry your boss is a huge beeotch Amanda, but you really cracked me up when you said she farted and sucks back her snot  that is so disgusting!! So last friday afternoon I called the photocopier maintenance place to ask them to come and fix our copier. It was doing some funky line things on color copies.. anyway they told me that the copy repair guy probably wouldn't be around until the next week (which I said was fine).. so about 2 hrs later he shows up and is visibly angry with me for calling the repair line on a Friday afternoon (he tells me this).. I'm like  if something is BROKEN I can't call? anyway, so he gives me all this attitude, and then tells me he doesn't have time to fix it he'll have to come back this week..

:clock: Today rolls around and I call them back and say.. he never came back to fix my copier..

So he just walks in and is huffing and puffing about how he had to wait for parts.... um... did I have that detail and did he call this week to explain that to me? nopers.. :bonk:
