That is just a crazy story, but it happens all too often. People forget that this is ONE day of your life, and is it worth ruining relationships and being a huge beeotch for ONE day!? You hear so many bridezilla stories, and it just makes you shake your head. My sister was the coolest bride, nothing frazzled her and she said I could pick my own dress, she didn't force me to wear something ugly she picked out! I personally haven't dealt with any bridezillas yet, none of my friends have yet to be married so we'll see. But I commend you Amanda for taking a stand and speaking out, why should you get bossed around and not appreciated. You are entitled to your opinion and if she doesn't like it well to darn bad!!

Absolutely it is worth it!!

To them.

As Sprailenes mentioned, the wedding is a good indicator of what they will always be like.

I don't think it has to do with the 'one' day, this is the way these people ARE - the bridezilla thing is a myth - they are peoplezillas.

Wow that's crazy. Talk about a spoiled little brat that is so selfish she is willing to ruin a lot more just to have "her perfect day".

I hate when people forget what marriage is really about. I am so happy I had my 1000$ wedding, was so perfect :)

I would do the same treble, do go there anymore because you will get hurt!

yeah that is about how much ours cost and that also included, hubby's plane trip to Canada and back and our little honeymoon  I loved our wedding it was what I always wanted, small and intimate...

Wait hold the phone... she has a 13 karat ring?? Wowza. That is insane.

I'm just starting to plan a wedding and I'm totally seeing how things can get out of control very fast. I hope I don't become a bridezilla, but I can't promise that I wont since I'm so detail oriented and plan events for a living.

So far so good though. I *think* I found my venue today!!! I'm soooo in love with it.

13 carat. She has a $13,000 ring. Man, she could build a ski lodge on a 13 carat rock.

Where's your venue?!!! Pics! Pics!

 Yeah it's 1.5 or 2 carats I believe. She weighs about 80 pounds and is 4'9" so it looks REALLY big on her finger.

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

^^ That is a very pretty ring. I'm usually not that fond of lots of detail, but I like that braided detail. I found a lot of girls in the NYC area have giant rings. When I'm in Toronto, my ring is pretty big and when I'm in NYC its like below average! So funny.

Anyways, my first choice right now for a venue is the Hart House at the University of Toronto. I went there today for a site visit for a work event and ended up discussing it as a wedding option and falling in love. It has so much character and is the perfect size and has a lot of elements that I'm looking for (cocktail reception outside, rectangular tables (i know, that's kind of bridezilla haha) and the price is decent. $150/person open bar. Technically we'll get a discount too if the US dollar stays strong, haha.

I guess since this is the vent thread, my vent is that R seems to think that is too expensive and that i need to look at more places first. But, I just KNOW. And, all of the other places that I want to look at are around the same price or more....I also really liked the event coordinator and since I'll be far away, I'll need her to look after things for me.

Anyways, we shall see!! It's definitely #1 on my list. I also want to look into places in the Distillery District and the Steamwhistle Brewery. I'm avoiding banquet halls at all costs.

That ring is beautiful, Amanda.

Sapphire, Hart House is lovely. My daughter has The Rosewater Room booked for her wedding next year. (Above the Rosewater Supper Club.) We looked at some places in the distillery district and they would have been lovely also. Can't wait to see what you decide!

I am with you on avoiding halls, wedding centres etc. I got married at a vineyard and it was something I always said I would do if I ever got married. So I am happy I at least followed through with that.

ugh, the outside of our apartment building looks so ghetto ..

awhlie back the neighbors put a couch out there in between our doors.. I guess it is their smoking couch

and right now they have a couple of other chairs out there that are almost right in front of our door.. we kind of have to walk around them to get to our place.. plus there are cigarette butts lying around despite the fact that they have a rusted can out there for them :P

Last Thursday went for a haircut, and it looked ok! Got home and realized I had a bow cut, and the front was slanted big time, lol What a crummy haircut. I guess I could have gone back and complained, but instead will just never go back. So instead forked over another $18 for a hair cut today!! oh well, could be worse

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Maybe she's pregnant? Pregnant people kind of lose their minds. I think it's a preamble for what's to come.

so that explains everything with nessa

Thetreble,

I am sorry but she doesn't deserve your BIL. He deserves way better. Life is too short to live it with someone who makes your life a living hell for the first day of your married life. It will get worse...

The ring is absolutely stunning!!! :) I hope things will get better for them!

In this tedious process, we tend to forget that this is all worth it.

I love my hubby beyond anything in this world.
