That was supposed to say 'glad you're not hurt too much!'

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

I went out to get the mail at work and was walking back to the office and fell UP the curb. I flew... so did all the mail.... and all I could do was lay there. Luckily no one witnessed the fall. My hands and knees are all scraped up... falling on cold pavement always hurts.

And yes I am fully aware that my fall on the pavement is nowhere near as catastrophic as a plane crash into the hudson river but I am still in pain. :P

Glad you're not hurt. Just to give you a different perspective though, falling 'upstairs' is supposed to be good luck, so maybe falling up a curb is also good luck. (Ok, ok, I hear the peanut gallery piping in "Of Course it's good luck - the good luck is that you didn't fall DownStairs!")!

:P Yes indeed. I am a clumsy person, so when I walked back in the office it was just not a surprise that I had taken a tumble. I get hit by parked cars, fall upstairs.. I trip on nothing. I should really be used to such things by now.

I feel like I am invisible today and my posts are going through ...lol

 I see you Marilyn!! I see you!!!

phew, I thought everyone had me on ignore today

not that I expect people to respond to every single one of my posts all the time but today it seemed that ALL my posts were ignored

You should have been posting in the Canada Forum then. :hehe:

OMG. Long lost sister Sprailenes! I am your twin. I am covered in bruises that even I don't remember happening. My kids and my husband usually hold out their arms around me and try to guide me around obstructions because I tend to walk into them. I have no sense of spatial perception. I regularly cut corners too soon, even in my own house. I am such a loser.

So both of you drive right?

Bah, that's too bad Sprailenes! Sorry that happened to you.

My Husband slipped upstairs a few years ago, in Calgary (they hadn't cleared the walkway/stairs) going in to work. The building owners paid him $5000.00.

That song by R.E.M. where Michael sings, "Here I am, choosing my religion..."

is so telling.

Not to take away from your post or anything, Spirit, because it did have merit, but the REM song is actually "Losing my religion." In the south that means losing your temper enough to swear.

Thanks Krikit.

To think I was/am a huge REM fan.

I hang my head in shame.

Forgive me Michael:

Losing My Religion

Life is bigger

It's bigger than you

And you are not me

The lengths that I will go to

The distance in your eyes

Oh no I've said too much

I set it up

That's me in the corner

That's me in the spotlight

Losing my religion

Trying to keep up with you

And I don't know if I can do it

Oh no I've said too much

I haven't said enough

I thought that I heard you laughing

I thought that I heard you sing

I think I thought I saw you try

Every whisper

Of every waking hour I'm

Choosing my confessions

Trying to keep an eye on you

Like a hurt lost and blinded fool

Oh no I've said too much

I set it up

Consider this

The hint of the century

Consider this

The slip that brought me

To my knees failed

What if all these fantasies

Come flailing around

Now I've said too much

I thought that I heard you laughing

I thought that I heard you sing

I think I thought I saw you try

But that was just a dream

That was just a dream

HAPPY VALENTIMES! LETS HAVE A SAMWICH! LOOK I CUTTED IT LIKE A HARRRT!

Can I just say that this is the funniest thing I have read all day! THANK YOU! AHHH!

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

There are a lot of things that are funny about U.S. immigration - I think we can all agree on that.

There is one thing though that I will never understand - that is petitioning for your child over 21.

Why is it that you can petition for your parent and have them here in the time it takes to do a CR1 or IR1 visa basically, but if you want to sponsor your child over 21 it takes like 5 - 7 years.

I do not understand.

 and :(

That makes no sense at all.

Okay, here's my vent. Don't you hate it when you reply to a question and take your time to ensure it is complete and right, hit "Add Reply", only to find out someone else has posted pretty much the same information but in a much more timely fashion than you? That really bugs me because it looks like people are just saying the same thing over and over while completely disregarding that someone else has already responded. In other words, it makes you look like an idiot. <_<

I think in a forum such an immigration forum, a few people posting the same response, gives the OP a bit more confidence that the reply is correct.

Edited by flames9

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1
