Well Jill if you ever wanna go walk around center city and just have coffee or something let me know. Hanging out with a fellow Canadian is always nice, I hung out with Amanda a couple of months ago and it was honestly like a breath of fresh air. :D

Speaking of hanging out... whatever happened to the Jersey/Delaware Valley meet up??

Awww thanks so much, I would actually really love that.... hanging out with another gal let alone a Canadian gal would be just great!! You just let me know when you're free since you work and have a family :-) I'm pretty much free anytime LOL

Weekends and Mondays are good for me. :D

Yes it gets lonely here, even a year and some later, I still have days when I cry. You know its funny you say two months because I really do think thats when homesickness really starts to set in for most of us. Theres some weird transition period there. I think Laura got a bit homesick after two months too. I think thats when the reality of everything really starts to set in, its great we're finally with our spouses but theres no doubt we miss our family too.

Its even more difficult when you're not even allowed to leave the country even if you wanted to go home for visit.

When are we going to have a meet? Girls, I will be down in the Philly area next Sunday if you two are available for a coffee or something! If the weather is good, let me know.

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

What about the 24th or 25th?? We can go to old city, lots of nice places to eat and have coffee there. We could make it a lunch date!

Lets go look at the liberty bell and honor our new land!

It's so wierd, I was like wow it's been 2 months and I'm doing great! No tears, nothing. Then all of a sudden today, the waterworks came!! I guess it's hitting me now, and I do feel like going back just for a weekend! It sucks to know I can't, I can't wait to get my AP.

Its never good when you have to start your morning off with a broken coffee machine.

So I get up, turn the coffee pot on and then go back to lay down... weekend routine yanno? :P

Figure the coffee is ready and go out... only to find coffee everywhere but the pot... all over the counter and the stove top.

I've done that!

This is insane.

Réjean just got laid off from his job today.

We have been sh*t on REPEATEDLY ever since the start of the year, and we're only 10 days into it. Something's got to give. Seriously; this is getting RIDICULOUS.

Awwww. :( I'm so sorry, Necrotica. (F) (F) (F)

I feel so homesick today, I think this is the first time since I've moved here (2 months ago) that I actually feel homesick and like crying.... all of my girlfriends are having a girls night and going to dinner and to see Bride Wars, I wish I was back home hanging with them. Don't get me wrong I'm happy here but I haven't met any friends yet and I'd just love to be back and having a girls night. Sigh.

:(

I totally hear you. There's nothing worse than hearing that people you love are getting together and doing something without you. It's like a dagger to the homesick heart. I'm glad you guys are getting together, though! That's nice that you can do that. :)

So I bought the "TWIN DRAFT GUARD" from those TV commercials, it doesn't work at all!! GRRRR why do I always fall for "as seen on TV" #######? :bonk:

So I am thinking it doesn't fit correctly on your door??

That's the thing with that stuff - they use them in ideal conditions that suit the product. Bah!

draft1.jpg

The commercial makes it look like it works so easily and fits all kinds of doors/floors, but when we put it on it doesn't glide like it does on TV, it just gets stuck and slides under the door then you have to pull it out, stupid thing! It might work better on windows but I don't have the types of windows that slide up/down

The TV ads show it moving smoothly on any kind of floor because the door's bottom clearance is like 4 inches. That's why there are drafts!

Thanks for this info.

I was wondering about that thingy.

I went to our local hardware store and bought some weather stripping.

Two types, the foam one to stick on really loosely placed doors.

And the other one that is about 1 and !/4 inches in width and long (plastic, comes in different colours), and you can cut it to size, peel and stick.

Great for large gaps under doors and on the sides too.

I strongly recommend it.

Cheap! A couple bucks.
