Jenn and I went to blockbuster on friday night and there was 2 14-16 year olds outside asking for donations. Upon hearing his sob story it was revealed that he was NOT SICK or helping someone sick, and was taking donations to go see his favorite team play in a NBA game.

ARE YOU SERIOUS???

Okay one time when I was a teenager I begged for money to go see the Smashing Pumpkins! I DID!

I was living in Toronto at the time and was with my friend at her house listening to 102.1 and we found out tickets were going on sale the next day and we literally stayed up ALL night asking random people to help us out. They did and we were completely honest about it too! We made enough money to go. Of course I wasn't asking for change for food or anything like that, I was just walking up to people asking them to help me go see my favorite band and I would give them advice on any matter or they could have their auras read by my "new age neo hippie" friend in exchange for change. :P

Paying for 2 40.00 tickets in change is quite funny.

Atleast it was a good band!

Darn you blockbuster rollers, lmao

Ok I can't help it anymore after reading another coment about ppl not taking their shoes off when comming into the house I realize just how much it does piss me off. I cant handle this anymore I dont want to be a witch but I'm going to blow pretty soon. My inlaws are good with taking their shows off but everyone one else could care less. I have light colour carpet ppl stop tracking your ####### all over the place. I'm going to have to buy a carpet shampooer. I'm a bit obsesced with keeping things clean not steril but clean lol.

I'm tired of hearing that dont take your shows off we dont live int he snow or china keep your shoes on or your feet will get dirty. Well for frig sakes take off you dang shoes, or clean up after your pets. I have pets you dont see them destroying my house I have 4 kids and my carpet manages to stay nice. Now why would ppl want to put new hardwood floors/carpet if they are just going to destroy it. It like they have no respect for anything and its going to be bad when I blow. I may be able to stay quiet for awhile still cause we dont have ppl come over that often. But if I go out and buy a cleaner you can bet I wont let anyone in the front door if they dont take their dang shoes off.

Plus its just rude not to take em off. Its like ppl who eat and run. I'll stop now.

just recently we when out and some guy asked for 25cents thats it was weird and creepy and the same time.

This is probably the most confusing thing I've read all day.

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

Homeless people do this because people are more than likely to spare a "quarter" rather than "change". People are more willing to give money when its requested this way. A lot of homeless people will ask for dimes, nickles or a quarter and oddly you do make more money because more people give it.

Tra la la there's some homeless trivia for ya. :D

Here's a good idea perhaps... go to the dollar store and buy a bunch of cheap, but cute slippers, and have them at the ready right by the door when you come into your place... that way they have no excuse to take their shoesies off?

I always want to have slippers in a bag in the car for when people want guests to take their shoes off. My feet get cold so easily. I've never actually done it though because I don't want people to think I'm criticizing their house keeping skills. I''m sure their floors are clean but my toes freeze when they're naked.

Our friends now bring slippers to our house, they get that we are a "shoes off" house as they call it.. I'm thrilled when someone brings over a pair of slippers personally!

People here used to laugh at me because the first thing I did when I went to someones house was take my shoes off.

Now I am just used to wearing them. I always have sandals or easy to slip on shoes around the house.

I have tried slippers but Cooper gets them and chews them up.

Wearing your shoes in someone elses house (unless they expressly ask you to) is just tacky.

I would either have a little sign by the door asking people to take their shoes off or just say it as they walked in.

My old coworker (originally from CA) said that its common in CA to wear your shoes indoors and no one bats an eye for walking into someone's home with shoes on. I told him where I come from that's rude and the assumption is that no shoes in the house unless someone specifically says "Don't worry about your shoes, you can leave them on." He said that it makes sense in Canada because there's always snow, salt, mud. But in Los Angeles there's only cement so you're not tracking much into the house with your shoes.

My husband grew up with - you take the cue from your hosts feet. If they're barefooted, you go bare. If they have shoes on, then you can wear shoes in the house.

I still always take off my shoes no matter where I'm at. Although once in Metlakatla, we went to this fisherman's house and he had this long long shag carpet, and I took off my shoes and the carpet was soaking wet and soaked my socks. I wished I had kept my shoes on. The carpet was so gross.

ewwwww

I take off my shoes at everybody's house as well, but I do notice here in FL that most every visitor leans more towards leaving their shoes on then taking them off.

Dont get me started on them giving her a pacifier at 2 1/2 already! She screams and cries for it at night, they say but nap time, its soo easy to get her down with out it. They give it to her because they dont want to deal with her crying at night. The parents make me want to tear my hair out!!!!

*Scream

Today Addisons dad dropped her off (still with the paci in her mouth) and was telling me how life has been so easy since he put a tv in her room. He was going on about how they put her in at about 8 and she goes down right away (that he knows of) With the tv on. They were having problems getting her to bed, and this was his solution. Is it wrong to feel so against one's parenting skills?

Buddy once said (jokingly of course) that some people should get a license to have children. A license that involves a very in depth test. With a mandatory 80% to pass. I'm starting to agree

Oh and to the topic on hand, I always go to take my shoes off, unless they say otherwise. I like the idea of keeping slippers in the car, because my toesies get cold also.

I must say, I was half through this sentence and was thinking soft shag carpet, comfy on the feet. I could FEEL my feet sinking into it, based on the word 'shag' alone. I was very wrong. :( My feet are cold now.
