Pandora- the humidity is definitely a factor. We have a dehumidifier down there but always forget to run it. I'm always congested when I wake up in the morning. It also could be mold. It's an old house and we often get leaks in the basement (where it is not finished) when it rains.

I guess that pretty much confirms it then, both factors are present. When there's water infiltration on a regular basis, mold develops. It doesn't need much. The bright side though is that it confirms to me that you should be allergy free when you move :)

I hope so! Plus we are moving to a much more open area so I'm hoping less ####### is in the air from cars and stuff.

It would be nice to be allergy free though...my headaches have been killing me for the past two years now.

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

Ugh. I used to get migraines and the meds didn't help. I finally went to a hypnotist and haven't had one since.

Really????? See I'm one of those people who thinks they could not be hypnotized. I'd like to try it though. In university we used to have this sex hypnotist come out to one of our drinking nights on campus. It was pretty raunchy and funny.

I've seen those guys. Pretty entertaining. But, yeah.... I didn't think I could be hypnotized either. But it's basically just a relaxation technique while the doctor (yes, he was a real doctor) weaves a story which you visualize in your head. At the end of the session you feel completely refreshed and full of life and joy for the world. Hmmm. Maybe I should go back. lol

Oh the OTC story reminds me of the time I was at work and for some unknown reason I had a couple of pills my Husband took for back pain, I popped a couple and within 10 mins I was totally high - slurred speech, it wasn't really cool  It wore off after 10 mins or so.

Thank you everyone for the comments, it really made my day...

To all with allergies, have you tried treatments to desensitize? I am not sure if you believe in natural treatments but it does work to some extent.

You might want to look into naturopathy.

My mom used to take my brothers to a natural path. I never needed it though so I haven't had had much experience with them. Do they just try to treat you with natural remedies?

 My naturopath actually told me to stay away from dairy for my hay fever, dust and mold allergies.. that works pretty well for me :)

Big Sigh. We are currently without telephone service. The telephones actually work, but there is a problem with the electricity in the front office where the modem for the phones (cable) is set up. The breaker started tripping yesterday and keeps tripping even with everything unplugged:-(. So, without power the telephones don't work. Thank heavens for cell phones. I am currently waiting for the electrician husband of a friend to come by and see if he can identify the problem for us. I hate electrical problems! Of course, it is in the office where Joe has all of his computer stuff set up - and he has been out of town for 2 days at work and will come home to find his whole network and everything down. Since the problem re-occurs even when all of that has been unplugged at least it isn't the computer set up. This house is only 7 years old though and shouldn't be experiencing problems with electrical circuits or wires!

And, we will have to get the termite protection redone again too. The joys of home ownership.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Ugh, headaches. I've generally found that my headaches come around a certain time of the month - my gyn actually prescribed me a particular brand of BC which does help a bit. She also suggested keeping hydrated, which is always a bonus.

I know in the spring, the carpet in our den gets really musty from the rain and our allergies go crazy. Ick mold! I feel your pain. I hope your move does resolve the allergy issue :)

Okay, I am going to sound totally paranoid with this rant - but I swear no hyperbole here.

I have been waiting for my SSN for 4 weeks. Lady at the SSA said 7-10 days. Well I went to the SSA yesterday and the girl who helped with my application a month ago said, I sent that off the same day. And I see here on the system it was mailed to you three weeks ago. Hmmmmmmmmmmm - never got that in the mail. We review my address - yup its correct. Confirmed that it should be addressed to my unmarried name.

Two weeks ago, HR department called from the State saying, we've been trying to deliver you some mail - but its all being returned as undeliverable. We go over my address and name that was on the mail - yup its correct. She says she will remail everything. If it doesn't arrive in two weeks - call back and we'll try a different approach. Nothing yet.

I called about my pension cheque today which was supposed to be on its way a month ago - it got returned as undeliverable. We confirm my address and name and yup - its right. She's going to remail it. If I had gotten in like 2-3 weeks ago - it would be worth a heck of a lot more $$$.

I asked my mom to mail me my new bank card (cause I lost it) and she put it to my name only and it hasn't arrived. That was 3 weeks ago.

A letter she sent the same day to my married last name did arrive.

A DVD from my BFF mailed to my married last name did arrive.

A package from Dr. Foster & Smith to my married name did arrive.

I swear our mail lady doesn't recognize my unmarried name and hasn't been delivering any of that mail. Its making me paranoid. I am off to the local post office today to see if I'm not crossing my T's properly or something.

Hubby thinks I'm being paranoid - but his mail is making it here.

PS:

I called about my EI application today and apparently they sent me a letter on October 3, 2008 requesting more information to which I haven't replied before they can move forward on my claim. They also sent my Access Code on September 30 which hasn't arrived either. Both of which should be addressed to my unmarried name.

on ur mailbox, maybe put ur maiden name and new name!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1
