I was in a small town called Bothell, WA this weekend during my road trip, and stopped at a local Applebees (I know I know, it's all I could find)

There was a party of 14 old people, in the range of 50-90 years old (family outing I guess). One woman explained she was a politics teacher at the local high school.

An older man said "I don't see how anyone can vote for Obama. He killed thousands of people. Just because he shaved his beard and sounds like he speaks perfect English now isn't enough for me to vote for him. McCain will go kill him for us and get justice."

The table all agreed completely, that Barack Obama was actually Osama bin Laden.

No, I am not joking. That's how stupid Americans can be.

PS. They said Foxnews has been an excellent source of election news.

Sweet goddess, pray for us all.

I have to say, I read that in disbelief and said to my husband "How is it possible that they actually think he is Osama bin Laden?" He just smiled, shook his head and said "Honey, THOSE are the people who vote."

For the first time since the election really came onto my radar, I felt a little bit of fear that John McCain could actually win.

Ewwwww. I walked into the living room a few minutes ago and there was a dead newborn rat lying on the carpet! I think Cooper brought it in from outside- he was out there playing with a dead rat a few days ago.

I don't think they are in the house though- I haven't heard anything. I should phone someone though- there must be a rat nest in out backyard.

Ew I don't even know what's wrong with me. I just started crying a minute ago, luckily I made it to the washroom before the tears started coming down but I just got super sad all of a sudden and just had to cry. Once I did I felt better though. Odd.

Donne moi une poptart!

You must have been processing something.

My rant of the day is employers who want to waste your time running a background/criminal check on you. HELLOOOOO I just got my background, foreground, middleground, highground, aboveground, belowground, and reach-around examined minutely by the most security-obsessed branch of your GOVERNMENT.

You think I have anything in my file that would exempt me from working at your little two-bit business that Homeland Security missed?! :protest:

Seriously. Where are their brains? Our EADs and Visas should be enough. We've already been certified squeaky-clean.

Congrats on the baby Sprailenes, That is SUPER good news!!!! Good job on breaking the news krikit!! Im off to the offtopic forum to make the thread dedicated to Sprailenes!!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1
