Is it possible he can go to student services and explain his situation? There may be a way to hold his tuition for a later semester. Failing that, have him call or send an email to the VP, Academic, and/or the President of the institution. There is almost always something that can be done to alleviate the situation.

maybe.. I will ask hubby to check into that... this is just a comuunity college so we are not losing a whole lot of money (@$200) but still..

hubby says he will make that back in no time but that isn't the point :P

they make it very clear on the papers you get that if you want to drop out of your class and get a refund you have to do it within the first week ...

I was a College Administrator for 20 years. Trust me.... they can bend the rules.

A little bit of a vent here. It's 11 days before our "church" wedding, which everyone is flying in for, and I am not feeling so hot. I'm actually beginning to think it might be strep throat. I can't afford to be sick right now, literally. ~sighs~ What a kick in the butt! I'll just have to try and rest as much as possible, drink plenty of fluids and gargle with salt water. Hopefully that will help!

Go to Walmart or the dollar store and pick up some generic allergy tabs and try one of those. It may just be allergies. Repeat after me:

I do not have strep throat.

I do not have strep throat.

Feeling better yet? lol

I went to get blood drawn this morning and they couldn't find an effing vein. Ive had this problem all my life and it SUCKS SO BAD. They couldn't do it after 20 minutes of poking so now I have to go to this medical place to have it done.

Drink lots of fluids before you go, Treble. That'll help bring out the veins.

Really!!?? Those mother effers told me to fast which I thought meant not to drink anything either. I'm a dummy. I will be drinking plenty of water tomorrow before I go for another try. My arm is all bruised now though :(

Also Mar, I agree with Krikit. As someone who went to university and now works at one, if he contacts a higher up like a VP or a dean of students, he might be able to get the rules bent in his situation.

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

Wait wait!

Repeat positive thingies like:

I am strong and healthy.

I feel good.

I am loved.

etc etc

Please be careful with anything negative when affirming something.

(L)

I know nothing of strep throat; what a thing to think you have if you are feeling "under the weather".

Perhaps you are run down from trying to do too much.

Slow down.

Allow others to help you.

Eat well.

Rest.

Know that all is well and all is good. :D

Read up on strep throat using alternative health ideas too if you need to.

Do rest as much as possible.

As someone who suffers from Strep conically, eating and resting well often does not make the bacterial infection go away.

I know you are all about alternative forums of medicine, Spirit, but it's not a virus it's an infection that can actually get much worse without medicine. While I admire your fight for all things natural, some things can't be treated with natural remedies. ;)

Thanks guys. While I'm not entirely sure that strep throat is what it is, I've tried allergy medicine, because at first that's what I thought this was. When the allergy medicine didn't make the headache, etc go away I realized that it definitely wasn't allergies.

My throat was very sore yesterday, but I tried to rest, drink plenty of fluids, say my positive affirmations, and gargle with salt water. My throat's less sore this morning, so that's good! I'll keep resting and drinking lots of water.

Spirit...I also believe in positive affirmations. I've been telling myself that I'm 100% healthy and whole! I love your last one though. That one will help alot.

I'm feeling extremely stressed lately. My family will be here in 8 days. They stress me out, not to mention the wedding period. I'm trying to just breathe and tell myself that it will be just fine.

I totally agree.

I would not want anyone to die because they only tried affirmations.

Eeek!

I hope you find out what it is soon ATeam.

Oh yes, and ATeam, do be completely direct and brutally honest with your people.

Tell them that you are feeling fragile or whatever you want to say to them. and tell them to back right off!

You need space and love.

And help.

And that is all.

Go get 'em girrrrl!

Roar!!

Hee, hee.

Ateam, make sure that if your throat keeps on getting worse to see a doctor. Usually with Strep the fever and the not being able to swallow are the two main symptoms. If it is just a sore throat, nurse it! The gurgling with salt will definitely help. Also try sleeping with your windows closed if you currently sleep with them open.

Stress is def. a factor in making the human body sick. Try to look forward to your wedding and family, instead of thinking that it is going to be stressful! I know how you feel because I was in the exact same situation this time last year. I over stressed WAY too much about how I was going to take care of my family and friends I had here for the wedding..where they were going to stay..where to eat, etc. I'm mad at myself that I stressed too much.

I just looked up throat problems in Louse Hay's darling little book.

Throat: Avenue of expression. Channel of creativity.

The inability to speak of for one's self. Swallowed anger. Stifled creativity. Refusal to change.

Believe me I know this one all too well.

This is just to help on a metaphysical level.

Do with it what you'd like.

Oops!

And here are the affirmations:

I open my heart and sing the joys of love.

It's okay to make noise. I express myself freely and joyously.

I speak for myself with ease. I express my creativity.

I am willing to change.
