The Vent

I feel like lately, all I do is whine ... but here is another rant. Hubby finally found a job (temp. 1-3 weeks, but it is work). He is renovating a local grocery store at night. Today was his second day. I just got the baby to sleep, lay down myself, and then hubby called. His vehicle broke down on the way to work. So, I bundled the baby into the carseat, went and got hubby and then gave him my car to use. It is just so frustrating that we now have yet another expense. Ever since Declan's surgery, it feels like we just keep getting hit with things .... hubby being laid off, mucho medical bills, my pneumonia, now this. ARGH!!!

This is called the vent thread, that can include anger, or whining. We don't think you're whining. That's what the thread is for. Imagine trying to keep that inside of you? Being afraid to not say anything? We can't take a lot of this away, other than to support you and encourage you when times are rough. We maybe have dealt with the same issues, and can offer helpful advice. Either way, we're here for you! (F)(L)

Yes!... what Carla said! We want you to come on here and whine so you don't bring down the happy threads. :hehe: Plus, it makes us feel better about our own miserable lives. lol

:lol::lol::lol::lol:

I was just out on the patio and they are trimming a palm tree across the parking lot, really these kids have no idea what they are doing.

I don't know much about landscaping or palm trees, but I can't see any reason to take off that many branches - nice green branches!

They provide shade, they look pretty, why do they do that.

we are going through struggles right now too.. hubby always knew his job would slow down after the summer but he just thought he would be working fewer hours a day.. but starting last week he has had whole days off...

so he decided last Thursday to apply for his old job at the warehouse... I think we find out today if he has a chance to get it or not.. the sucky thing is, is he is not sure if he will get day shift again ... if he gets swing shift he has to drop out of school...

and today he is turning in his work van.. so we are back to only having one car...

in the meantime he signed up with Labor Ready... which means on the days i have to work I have to drop him off there around 5:30 am...

and I had to call my parents to lend us some money to cover rent.. we were caught off guard with him not working a few days....

ugh, this sucks.. thankfully I have my job or we would have really been sunk...

Oh Marilyn... i was in your position almost a year ago when both hubby & i lost our jobs very suddenly.. it sucks so bad, so sorry to hear about it. We were blessed by the generosity of my grandmother during that time and it really caused us to reflect about the love of our families and how that is so important.. Little did we know she would pass away a few short months later. I hope that the love that is there between hubby & you just grows even more during this hard bit and that you can both be a good support for each other. It's so tough for me in those moments to remember love.. and to cling to good things.. :(

yeah we still love each other a lot.. that is one of the only things that has been keeping us going through these last few years...

to be honest I was expecting more of a struggle to get money from my parents... but my mom basically said sure right off the bat and when I tried to say we would pay them back she pu her foot down and said no.. of course we will still pay them back somehow...

in the meantime he signed up with Labor Ready...

When I was working for a General Contractor we used Labour Ready on almost all of our job sites. One of our site supervisors said he felt sorry for the workers because they literally get paid peanuts. :(

I went to get blood drawn this morning and they couldn't find an effing vein. Ive had this problem all my life and it SUCKS SO BAD. They couldn't do it after 20 minutes of poking so now I have to go to this medical place to have it done.

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

well, he did get the job back.. he is going in right now to fill out the forms and probably do the drug test... he will most likely start within the next week or two...

but he didn't get the day shift which means he has to drop out of school and it is too late to get a refund for the money we paid for the classes..

his shift kind of sucks to Thursday to Monday.. he would start at 12 or 3 (not sure yet) on Thursday, Friday and Monday and at 11 on Saturday and Sunday... which means is weekend is Tuesday and Wednesday and I work on Wednesdays :P oh well, hopefully it is only for a few months til we get back on our feet...

I really don't want hubby to give up on the AC thing because I know he doesn't want to work in warehouses for the rest of his life... possibly he can go to school during the day next semester, those classes are everyday in the mornings for like 2 or 3 weeks...

it is a relief that he has got his job back.... he will be making the same what he made before plus 8% for working the swing shift..

and another bonus is that the health insurance starts right a ways... which is good because I want to get off the Birth control I am on now... Walmart only offers Avaine( generic brand of Aleese) and I think it is messing with me... I want to go back to Lutera (another generic form of Aleese, they have that at Walgreens....

Is it possible he can go to student services and explain his situation? There may be a way to hold his tuition for a later semester. Failing that, have him call or send an email to the VP, Academic, and/or the President of the institution. There is almost always something that can be done to alleviate the situation.

maybe.. I will ask hubby to check into that... this is just a comuunity college so we are not losing a whole lot of money (@$200) but still..

hubby says he will make that back in no time but that isn't the point :P

they make it very clear on the papers you get that if you want to drop out of your class and get a refund you have to do it within the first week ...

A little bit of a vent here. It's 11 days before our "church" wedding, which everyone is flying in for, and I am not feeling so hot. I'm actually beginning to think it might be strep throat. I can't afford to be sick right now, literally. ~sighs~ What a kick in the butt! I'll just have to try and rest as much as possible, drink plenty of fluids and gargle with salt water. Hopefully that will help!

I love my Canuck buddies!!! Thanks for the support.

Spirit, I do have some support here, but not a lot. We have lived here for 2 years, but it is a difficult place to make friends ... people tend to be insolar and not welcoming of newcomers. We are slowly starting to make friends, but not as close to anyone here as I am to my friends in Georgia. My family is about 5 hours away. Hopefully, my mom will be able to visit at the end of the month.

Marilyn, hugs to you :) Hope things are better now that hubby has the new job.

A Team - poor you! If you think it is strep, go to the doctor ASAP so you can begin an antibiotic and feel better before the wedding.
