VENT: Montreal Consulate: What the hell is going on over there? Appointment letters are going missing. People are missing their appointments. Some people get email notices 3 days before their interviews, and have to scramble to get to Montreal. Those of you who went through them last year says that they were fine - what the heck happened?? There's a bunch of us here now wondering if our letters may have been lost. There's no interviews scheduled yet for September, at least among VJers. What gives??????

WOW!!! Another lucky contestant!! You have won a trip (which u have to pay for) to PEI, get picked up at the airport by no one other than PEI own Loverboy!! He may be a bit late to the airport, as he has to borrow his moms 1986 Dodge Horizon hatchback car, and he has to stop at the seamstress to get a patch put on his sweat pants!! Accommodations are at his parents place AND he will devote all his attention to you, as he does not have a job!! Thanks to VJ members, we do have $$$$ in the budget for aerosol body spray. CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Ants!!!!!!! Grrrr! I woke up this morning at 6 am to make Joe's lunch and there were hoardes of ants all over the kitchen counters! I made his lunch on the kitchen table and got him on his way and then broke out the Bug Shot. After moving everything away I found they were streaming in through the edge of the kitchen window. So I blasted those little suckers where ever I saw them moving, then wiped off the counter of insecticide and dead ant bodies. Then I sprayed bleach cleaner all over the counters and wiped off that. Then I had to wash everything off with water to remove the bleach and any residual insecticide because the cats have been known to jump up there and I don't want them touching any left over insecticide (nor us either). Then of course I had to wash down all of the items that we keep on the counter and wash the cutting boards and everything else. I put down ant traps and then, figuring it won't hurt and might help, lined the window ledge with dryer sheets. Then I went outside and sprayed the outside of the window sill , the siding and the cement base of the house to try and stop any further intrusions. I hate ants inside! So far so good. They haven't returned - but I'm telling you, if they do I'm ready. I bought more BugShot today. Boy am I ever glad it works.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”
