Ok - prize for hugely terrible customer 'technical' support goes toooooooo

Roomba

So for Mother's day I bought my Mom a docking station for her roomba - for which I received the golden child award - but I digress.

So my Sister was over there yesterday and she's going to set it up for her, but the roomba manual says 'push the spot button and the clean button at the same time'. Easy enough except there is no 'spot' button.

So I call 'technical' support:

Thank you for calling irobot, how can I help you.

Blah blah blah (as above).

One moment maam......which roomba do you have.

I tell her.

What is your name?

We establish my name then she says she has two Maureens - am I blah@blahblah or the other (she actually gives me the other customers email address - not good). I tell her which email address belongs to me.

Ok, you have the whatever model.

Yes I do.

(She is madly looking up stuff the whole time we are talking).

Ok, so what you need to do is press the Spot button and clean button at the same time.

Can't do that, don't have a 'spot' button.

(I've edited here - I have actually told her the problem about 3 times at this point).

Oh, ok, can you repeat to me what the problem is.

So I say....I don't mean to be rude, but are you listening to anything I am saying??? I have already told you 3 times why i'm calling.

Bottom line, she finally tells me, you cannot use the docking station.

Ok, fine.

Is there anything else I can do for you today maam?

Well....how do I return these?

Oh, you don't need to return them, you can keep them.

Ok....but then how do I get my money back.....

At that point she transfers me to customer service where the person tells me to ignore the spot button etc etc and tells me how it will work.

He was probably in the Tim Hortons line up,lol Hope he get son the next flghht

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

That boy does love his TimmyBits =) but he caught the next flight and will be here in an hour. Yeah - it was kinda nice, I actually had time to clean a little bit more and finish up a few things. Oh well, he's on the plane and it took off with no delays.

We're off to the Northwest Territories tomorrow to see my fam - and he wants to do some fishing. Can't wait. :D

I want to meet my mother-in-law, brother-in-law, and nephew. :(

Sometimes I forget that I even HAVE this new family because they're all the way in Québec. Not like I'd be able to talk to my mother-in-law and nephew anyway, since I can't speak or understand much spoken French and they can't speak English... but still... family has always been so important to me since I've always been so close to my own...

Also, this next part is in no way a vent, but it ties in with the above vent... today is my parents' 35th wedding anniversary! How ironic that it happens to be on Canada Day. (L)

08/25/06 - 08/08/07 - K1 timeframe from mailing the petition to the NSC to K1 approval at the Montréal Consulate

08/31/07 - Réjean makes the big move to the USA

09/22/07 - MARRIED!

10/09/07 - Réjean gets his SSN

Adjustment of status:

10/26/07 - Mailed AOS/EAD/AP

11/23/07 - Biometrics appointment

12/14/07 - I-485 transferred to the California Service Center

12/28/07 - EAD approved!

01/07/08 - EAD received

02/08/08 - GREEN CARD APPROVED!!!!!!

02/16/08 - Green card received!

*headdesk*:

01/02/09 - Réjean loses his wallet containing his drivers license, Social Security card, and green card

02/04/09 - Our best friends bail us out by giving us the money to file for the replacement green card!

02/12/09 - E-filed I-90 for the replacement green card along with the $370 filing fee (including biometrics)

02/19/09 - NOA1

02/25/09 - Biometrics appointment

05/01/09 - Replacement green card received

Removal of conditions:

01/07/10: Mailed I-751 packet by overnight mail to the CSC

01/11/10: I-751 packet delivered and signed for

01/19/10: Received NOA1

01/28/10: Biometrics (did walk-in due to Réjean being out on the road on original date of 02/10/10)

02/03/10: APPROVED!!!

02/05/10: Received e-mail from USCIS saying the card production has been ordered

02/06/10: Received letter typed on plain paper from USCIS congratulating Réjean on his removal of conditions approval

02/11/10: Green card received

Ahh so my mother in law decided to throw a little below the belt comment in this morning. We're moving out in two weeks so I think maybe she's gone into mean mode...I have no clue.

I was making my husband a bagel with cream cheese and he asked: "Is that cream cheese whipped??"

And she jumps in and says: "YES MIKE ITS WHIPPED, JUST LIKE YOU!"

Then he looks all hurt and she says sorry to him, said she was joking and then throws herself on him and stands there holding him for an awkward 3 minutes.

Soo ya I think the woman needs to seriously grow up.

Thank god for our new apartment.

Things were going really well until we told her we were moving out. I don't get it.

I am glad you found your own place to live... I get along great with my in-laws but I don't think I could stand living with them....

You'd think though she'd be happy that we're finally getting on our own. I mean we're literally down the road about 15 minutes away by car.

I think its a control thing too.

Ahh whatever. I don't really care but I do but I don't.

Things were going well...I guess it can't always be a barrel of sunshine.

Still think shes being a total B*tch about it though.
