well, finally got back here to the US, finally got my luggage that AA managed to misplace, and I am kinda sad. every time I go home to Canada, so many things change. I don't feel totally at home here, but I am starting to not feel at home there either.......I hate this kind of limbo. :(

Oh boy...do I HEAR you!! I was visiting my parents last week in Toronto, and while it was so nice to see them, I couldn't say the same for the city. My biggest concern and disapppointment was all the trash that is now strewn around. I'm someone who recycles and reuses, and I never thrown things away except in a garbage. Well, the streets were strewn with garbage when I was there. Garbage is overflowing everywhere it seems. I might write a letter to the editor of the local paper about this because I was embarrassed, particularly with Gene there.

I didn't feel at home their either, and was glad to be back home. Kind of like..." a nice place to visit, but don't know that I'd want to live there...". Now next week I'm back in Saskatoon, where I lived for 26 years before coming down to the US, my kids are there, my friends, my ex-co-workers...that might be a LOT more difficult to leave. I guess I'm going to have to see how much it's changed in a year and five months.

Okiedokie. So I come back from Spawn Cafe on Saturday, quite happy after making a couple of friends from India who recommended a good eyebrow threader, to find a notice from Canada Revenue along the lines of:

YOU OWE US $XXXXX IN GST BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT A RESIDENT.

:ranting: #######?!?!? :ranting:

First, I voided and returned the last check I got. Second, I let them know in freaking FEBRUARY I did not live there anymore. So of course I phoned today. Lady was a Mmme. Quebecoise and not very nice.

Q: "So, are you sure you didn't receive the check"

L: Uh, no. I live in Seattle and our mail forward ended in March.

Q: "And are you sure you didn't cash the check?"

L: Uh... how could I if I never received it???? :blink:

Q: "Let me see what I can do"

blah blah blah.

Long story short i told her I was not paying them #######. If they sent a check AFTER I told them I am no longer a resident and some azzhole cashed it, it's not my effing problem. then I asked her about my tax return: "uh oh, not in the system yet --- takes 16-20 weeks"... jerks. So it takes them 2 minutes to charge you with a bogus GST scam, but more than 3 months to give you back your money. I am not pleased. :angry:

Some people are just plain irritating. Can't decide what do I dislike the most: stupidity or condescension. :angry:

Maybe I should do as many of our sisters have done and take off for a while.- and come back when I'm about to remove conditions.

My ears are burning. :lol: I think I prefer stupidity, no wait condescension...OK...I got it now, arrogance, especially my own. :lol:
