Hey Kathryn, that is an EXCELLENT idea! I didn't think about that, but if/when we get another complaint from management that is exactly what I'll suggest! I mean, I could see if I was being noisy in the middle of the night but during the middle of the day, it's pretty unreasonable.

SOMEBODY HIRE ME!!!

Congrats (again) Liz!

My card is in the mail, too.

Hey, but, I will NOT be workin' for someone....bleh! Unless they are as fun and casual as me. Ha!

Besides, work is the last thing I am concerned with these days.

(here goes....my venting)

Here's my truth at the moment (no need to respond):

My partner's dad is in more and more pain. Bleh.

Hence we are all in more and more pain. :(

My sweetie and I "fight" all the time.

As much as I can be "wise" enough to not engage and to soften (bring it back to love and understanding) and all that, occasionally I will finish it by dropping a bomb.

For example, yesterday, I stated matter of factly that I would leave and go back "home" (Canada) tomorrow (which is today).

There is only so much disharmony I can live with (in).

And it is tomorrow today, and I am not leaving.

Obviously.

And yet, it may be time to go visit a spiritual friend in Cali.

Regenerate.

Clear my head. (Those voices!)

Come back and see where we are at.

You know, as my trip is to be in harmonious relationships with people, the fact that the person closest to me and I have zero harmony is basically killing me.

I wonder why I am creating that? (What the Bleep....?)

I guess this is all to be expected what with me being uprooted for over a year, over and over (through no real choice of my own, just circumstances; the tough part being I was finally ready to "settle" somewhat), and then the two of us uprooting plus the big dog and coming down here to assist and just be here (well it that is not easy, especially since my partner has never taken time off from working, imagine that!!)

Oh I could go and on...

And yet, I know that my (our) ego(s) is (are) at play, and what with the incredibly tough start to our relationship right from the get-go, right through the immigration process, to his father's illness, to a record-breaking cold winter, to a decrepid house, to a stinky, drooly dog, to coming here and having no real time alone (guests, visits, his sis is now staying with us in the house we have been out in), and me and my not agreeing to live in a relationship without full-on brutally honest communication, and him, well, he has not learnt to express himself...etc etc...

I know that life is messy and I will try to get out of this as unscathed as possible...even if at the moment I wish I was anywhere but in this (my) life.

I am a fish out of water....longing to be still living on a boat in the Pacific.

Tic toc tic toc.

Things will get better...

...or I will kill someone!

Breathe in....life is challening.

Breathe out...life is good.

It is what it is.

There are no mistakes, only experiences.

:star:

How in the Hell did I miss this? I am so incredibly sorry Spirit. Usually when someone feels like #######, you step in a give them some sage advice and here you are in a very difficult situation and I drop the ball. In any relationship there can only be one raging yang and one sober yin, but that doesn't mean that both parties can't express both at the same time albeit in different areas. Men tend to have more yin aspects when it comes to inner feelings. DH is upset that his father is dying and he has no idea how to express himself. Unfortunately you can't outrun your feelings. They will express themselves in other less healthy ways. As Shakespeare put it, "For murder, though it have no tongue, will speak." Concrete measures you can take are to deal with the dog issue, SIL (#######???) and hubby's work. He's working to try to kill the pain, been there, done that! It doesn't work too well. You can always get extra sleep (works surprisingly well for healing) and take things one step at a time. Rome wasn't built in a day.

If none of that works out, don't do anything rash. Just remember that some of those old buildings have wallpaper that may have arsenic in the paste.

I feel for you Amy, I'm with Kathryn on this. It sounds like the "lady" downstairs is looney tunes. Let the building management investigate the problem. Amy, STOMP THE YARD!!!! Show her what you think of her. If she has a problem with the pipes that's not your concern. She can go to HELL!!!!

Well, that's exactly what I felt like. I was pretty ticked cause I know I'm not making a whole bunch of noise. In fact, I'm trying to make as little noise as possible! I love this apartment, but because of her, I can't wait to move out into a house.

I work for WCB and Friday night we had a social event at a bar near our office. Our social club puts these events on every few months. They provide cab vouchers (which say WCB - employee on them), so that people do not drive home drunk. You just give them to the cab driver and once you get home you fill out the total bill. A cab ride home for me is like $50, so I was happy to get one.

So I am quite intoxicated after tying a few on, and get a cab home. The cabbie looks at the voucher and gives me a very strange look.

So we're half way home and the cabbie looks in the rearview mirror and says "So what's your disability?"

Confused and drunk I say "Ummmmmm . . . I'm drunk?"

He continues "No, no, what's wrong with you? What's your disability?"

I am still confused, and I say "I'm just drunk." Thinking to myself what a professional cab driver - what's my disability - what's your disability jacka$$?!

He mumbles something and we continue home.

It occurred to me today that he thought I was ON WCB not working for WCB.

What's my disability?! as if he had 6 hours to hear my limitations.

I haven't even been to OT in about 2 months (I think..)

I haven't been there for a while either, but had to go see where Cassie posted!!

Ugh. I'm sorry I went and looked. That's why I've got to stay out of there. Too many idiots in that forum.

Okay, so I've been here in Boise for two days now and I've already had a run in with the crazy lady downstairs. Why is she crazy you ask? WELL....soon to be hubby has been having a problem with her

Well that sux. I think if it was me I would go down and talk to her and be really really nice and sweet and full of concern and understanding. That usually deflates their animosity. How can you be mad at someone who's really nice and caring and sensitive? Take her cookies and say you're sorry for upsetting her! Unless, of course, she really is crazy. Then you may as well just stop tippy-toeing around and be a normal person because it obviously won't matter what you do, you'll still get in trouble for it. But I was like Kathryn. The first thing that popped into my head was the pipes.

Don't feel bad. I couldn't figure out why he kept asking you what your disability was either. And I'm not even drunk!

Krikit- My soon to be hubby has tried doing that with her, before I got here. He offered her his phone number and everything so she could call him when he was making too much noise rather than bang on the ceiling. She didn't want it though. He went down to the office last night to speak with management. Apparently she's had a maintenance man in her apartment listening and he told her that it was just normal apartment noise and not excessive in the least. The lady mentioned something about possibly moving that couple to an open 3rd floor apartment where they're not below anybody. I dunno, but personally I think it's really unreasonable to expect no noise at all when living in an apartment complex. That's just me!

Yeah, they definitely need to be moved to a top floor then. See if you can arrange it where they're in the apartment above yours, then randomly bang on the ceiling with your broom.

Does this mean I shouldn't refer to the lady upstairs as 'walks like horse'?

Anyway, she probably doesn't really, but since I am somewhat sane and have lived in an apartment before, it's just the way it is.

You're upstairs neighbour probably moved from a house and doesn't get the whole apartment thing. whatever!

cattattude - at the very least you gave the cab driver a good story for his friends - blah blah blah, drunk as a skunk, no 'disability' that I could see and when I asked her she said 'that i'm drunk' blah blah blah

TOTALLY! And then they'll post on an immigration OT forum that they absolutely know that drunk people can get workman's comp and that's why the world is falling apart and Obama shouldn't be President.

So. While I'm in the vent thread, I'd like to vent.

Stupid freaking Comcast. Stupid service went down again as soon as I made my last post about 1-2 hours ago. I see I still remained logged in to VJ though.

We're on a top floor so no worries for us! YAY! I've lived in a basement or basement suite practically my whole life though, and I've put up with a LOT. Maybe she's never lived in an apartment before but still, she's being unreasonable. Trailmix- I've lived with a lot of people who are 'walk like horse' or elephant or some other creature that stomps a lot. I've been walking on my tippy toes so there's no way you can call me that! ~giggles~ :P
