Ok, I just got notice that our case was transferred to CSC. I also received a notice from my landlady today that we either move out by the end of May or sign another lease to stay until November. I would rather not stay where I am until November, but the timeline is not so good.

Most say that it will take between one and two months when your case is transferred to CSC. Well one month is May 10, and I'm good with that, but if it is June 10, then we have problems. We will file the address change June 1, but it is not likely that it will arrive in time to let them get the correct address, and then if it is sent back to them, how long will it take to get it back again?

Arg. Maybe I will ask my landlady to keep my mail and not file anything with the USPS to redirect mail. That way our address is properly changed with the USCIS, and still doesn't affect the card being sent back and causing a greater delay.

Any advice?

Kanyiri

Well, since I'm going to be facing a similar situation, I can tell you what others have told me about how to handle an address change with USCIS:

--File AR-11 and I-865 with USCIS to the Kentucky address. Make sure you send them registered/certified mail.

--In your case, you may want to CC those to CSC as well.

--Follow up with the misinfo line a week or two after you've sent them to see if they've changed your address in the system.

--Follow up with your *new* Congressional Reps/Senators, if you're changing Congressional districts, and see if they can make sure everything gets in the system for you (ET-US2004 gave me that tip).

Of course, an address change shouldn't be that complicated, but this is USCIS we're talking about, so... ;)

Latest news: Green card received 16 April 2007. USCIS-free until 3 January 2009! Eligible to naturalize 3 April 2010.

There is also a phone number that you want to call....its on the uscis website, dont have the number off hand. But, especially when you have a pending application you want to mail the ar-11 to KY and also call that number because they do not update the info in their system when you just send the ar-11.

also, you may want to cc your local cis office that you will have your interview at so that they have a record of the change of address as well.

I aint cool enough for a signature.....

you stated that you re started your job ? was this before your EAD arrived ?

2 Things

First: We (my husband and I) just moved and we had no problem with the address change. We mailed the AR-11 and I-865 on April 1st. I called the USCIS information line the same day to change the address, they were very helpful. (They did tell me that although they update on the phone we still had to send out the AR-11).

I received a NOA on the I-865 change of address with our new address it was dated April 5th. I did not receive a NOA on the AR-11, but I did receive a letter in response to my phone call to change the address, the letter stated that they were updating the address in their system.

We were concerned about changing our address as well, since we are in the middle of AOS and EAD. But it looks like everything was done in a very timely manner. I don't think you have anything to worry about. I would be more concerned letting my landlord hold my mail.

Second: Kanyiri got the EAD stamp at JFK POE, so there was no need to file for EAD. At least that is how I see it.
