Spouse applying for F-1 Visa

i am a Canadian working in US on TN visa. My wife is in india. I wanted to apply for dependent visa for my wife but found out that consulate ppl usually dont know about TN visa and chances are slim that they will issue the visa. So we decided to apply for her student visa. Now that we got that I-20 how should she prepare for the interview? I do not know how they would see my presence in US as a positive or negative thing. Negative that they will think that my wife will not come back after study period is finished and Positive so that since I'm here to support her they will not mind issuing the visa.

Now, another question that I think they reaise a red flag that what is happeing to permanent resident file to Canada which is in process but since the interview has come it will take a longer and my wife wants to start her study and do not want to wait for the visa..

Any suggestions/experiences in terms of how she should prepare for the interview?

Umm, I have no idea what a TN visa is, what visa are you petitioning for Student , spouse, dependant?

If you are here on an F-1 then you apply for an F-2 for your spouse.

How do I apply for F-2 visa?

To apply for F-2 visa, you must submit:

• Completed Form I-20A-B, Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant Student Status, that is used by the F-1 prospective applicant
• Filled in Form DS-156, Nonimmigrant Visa Application
• One recent photograph (37 x 37mm) of each applicant, with the entire face visible. The picture should be taken before a light background and without head covering
• A passport, valid for travel to the U.S. for at least six months longer than your intended visit
• Copy of you marriage certificate in case you are a dependent spouse
• Copy of birth certificate if you are a dependant child below 21 years of age
• Marriage photographs or wedding invitations
• Evidence of sufficient funds for your support
• Evidence that you will depart when the student's education is completed

I guess you guys are not familiar with TN visa. TN visa (Trade Nafta) visa is the employment visa for Canadian citizens to work in United States. Canadian citizens dont have to go for H1B visa rather they can just obtain TN visa at the port of entry which is valid for one year and no other paperwork involved. Rather it is a I-94 status but they call it TN visa. My wife wants to apply for F-1 Visa here in United States and one of the reqs being that applicant should come back after the study period is over and that is why i was asking that since i'm here in United States will that cause a problem or result in visa denial.

Well it might if she cant show compelling evidence that she will return to canada once the course is finished. Also i have of denials if the college/ university is not a well known institution.

When does your TN visa expire ? you will have to return to canada then anyway wont you ?

How about getting your spouse to Canada first, and then work on getting her to accompany you to the USA?

I wish that would happen soon. But problem is she is asked for an interview. Generally, when there is an interview, the processing is delayed by another 6-7 months. In which she can complete here almost 2 semesters of her study. If she comes to Canada then she'll have to get dependent visa from US consulate and then convert to F-1 visa since she cannot work and study on dependent visa. So this is why I was asking.
