I wanted to post this because I often see many people who get confused by the DS 3032 (Choice of Address and Agent) and the DS-230 (Part I).

These are documents that must be signed by applicant/beneficiary/immigrant. Not by the petitioner/spouse who is doing the sponsoring.

First, the DS-3032 is for the applicant/beneficiary/immigrant to sign. Their signature AUTHORIZES the NVC to send the documents to you if they ELECT YOU AS AGENT.

Secondly, don't be confused and think that since you have been selected as an AGENT to receive mail from the NVC, that you can then start signing DS-230 on behalf of your overseas spouse. The DS-230 wants biographic information on the applicant, so they must sign the forms. Your signature would be null and void because you are attesting that information given for other person's is accurate. Basically, your signature is hearsay.

REMEMBER

Sign documents that pertain to YOU and YOUR INFORMATION

A signature is an AFFIRMATION - TESTEMENT that a document is correct.

Signing a document in someone else's name is forgery.
