Entry to the US Questions ( before, after, meanwhile)

Hey Guys

i need your help for the following questions

lets participate our experiences about entering the usa thru JFK airport in steps

2-what is the document which i have to fill out while in the air (th stewardeses give cards to fill) and what kind of information should i memorize to fill in the blanks , is there a sample i can see in this website

3- what are the steps after arriving at the airport

4-what are the options to go to Brooklyn ( Bus, Train, Taxi ) and what about the prices

5- important question : the issued visa which i have on my passport is CR1 category and i have been married just for a year and 2 months till now , the question is what kind of green card they will give me, if they won't give me a green card before the second anniversary ,am i authorized to work and what kind of documents should i carry while in the street ,if they will give me a green card is it right that they will send it via mail to the address of my sponsor which is in DS-230 form, or i can change the destination because my sponsor resides in chicago and im planning to reside in Newyork, Brooklyn

6-at the time of entry do they take money as an entry fees

7- after assigned for a job, should i pay the tax immediately and if yes how and when and where and to whome

8- what about the SSN card and number , and yes i checked the option in DS-230 form which asking for assinging an SSN number and card

9- after how many months/ years i can travel outside the usa and go back normally and thru what kind of legal documents i can travel

2) if you are entering the USA on an immigrant visa the only form to fill out on the plane is the customs declaration form, and with this you can declare nothing due to baggage being for personal use.

3) Go through immigrations (Visitors/Immigrants) line give the officer at POE the brown envelope, answer a few questions, and then proced on to collect bagage, and then through customs for bagage inspection, then on to NYC or to the domestic terminal for flight on to your final destination.

7) Taxes are handled by employer for you, unless you are self-employed.

8) You should receive a SS card around the same time you receive the green-card.

Hello Rami,

On question 5: Your green card and SS card should be arriving at the address you provided on the DS-230. They will arrive via regular mail. Until then, you can use your passport with visa on it as proof of ID.

Question 7: If you get a job working for someone else, you will most likely have to submit a form called W-4 which is provided by your employer. This will let the IRS know how much to take out for taxes from each pay check.

Question 8: If you don't receive your SS card within a month, go to a SSA office to file for one. Some people had problems receiving the card even though they checked the box on the DS-230.

Question 9: You can travel any time you want after your POE. Just make sure you don't stay outside the US for more than 6 months to avoid issues once you file for citizenship if that is in your plans. When you travel you will only need your passport and your green card in hand.

Dear Rami,

First of all, your spouse should be the one to help you with these sorts of qustions. Afterall, your spouse is currently living in USA and knows the process just like us.

2) The stewardess will give you a form to fill out on the plane. You do not need to MEMORIZE the answers to the questions. It's a fairly simple boarding card that wants information about you (can get from your passport), your flight and if you carry fruits, vegatables, meets or exotic, endangered animal products.

3) Get off the plane and follow other passengers to customs and immigration.

4) Can't help you with Brooklyn prices...Maybe, hopefully, your spouse will pick you up from the airport and you won't need to concern yourself with this.

A. You will get a two year immigrant visa if you are married less than two years. File a AOS when the two years is up.

B. Your spouse should have requested on the DS-230 form a social security number be issued to you 6 weeks after you enter the US.

C. Get a local drivers license or state id from the US state you will be living in. That's what you walk the streets with. Not your passport.

6) Once you get a social security card, then you get a job. Don't worry about where to send your tax money. Your boss will take out money from your paycheck to give to the IRS before you ever get your hands on it!!!

I was told that you cannot leave the US until you get your greencard. Is that true? I will need to leave the US the same day to visit Canada. I was told I will need to wait about 3 weeks for the green card to arrive before I can leave the country again

As you are applying for a CR1 you will receive a stamp in your passport (I know you are CR1 from your previous posts) - you will be able to travel. It helps everyone if you can fill in your timeline
