My Hip review:

It was cool- there were lots of Canadians there!!

When we first got there and during the opening band we were upstairs. When the Hip came on, we moved down to the stage. We were very close to the front but also very close to the speaker- my left ear is ringing right now. The sound wasn't that great- but that might be because we were so close.

Gordie- I have never seen a man sweat like that- it was gross. By the the second song he was dripping sweat- it was all over him, all over his guitar, it make me nauseous. When he danced around, the sweat flew off him and hit people. His shirt was soaked and clung to him. Ick!

They did play New Orleans is sinking and I was happy about that!!

Always wondered why some people have to be negative majority of the time. Some people all they post is negative remarks, oh well. Yes people are entitled to their opinions, just weird how some people are always negative. Don't think we are going to see the hip this Friday, have a different party to goto.

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

And I guess we should all be happy happy all the time over everything that is Canadian?

Just because it's Canadian, doesn't make me like it now that I live in America.

I thought their first ep was good and then everything after sucked. Part of the reason I don't like them is the fans that think you're not a true Canadian if you don't like them....maybe not on here as much, but they were like that back in Ontario. Don't judge those you don't know or want to know you.

Who stated we were talking about you. have a good night

Now I am not a fan of the hip at all, the one and only album I have by them is day for night.

Anyways, I don't think it has anything to do with having to like them because you are Canadian. But they are something that belongs to Canada and is unique to Canada. It's Canada's big band, that the rest of the world is clueless on. I mean they sell out large venues in Canada but play small bars etc down in the states.

If I were a fan of them, I'd be pretty excited too that I would be able to see them in a small intimate venue in another country.

I like seeing Canadian bands down here, Broken Social Scene and Arcade Fire are shows I never miss. It's like having a piece of home away from home.

Who asked you to gush over anything? Who the heck are you anyway? You're so negative. Actually you're a pain in the butt.

Grow up. If you want to argue in forums, or, don't like the "tone" of the Canadian forum, go elsewhere, or read it, and just shut up.

Carla (F)

Glad you had a great time Stacey, minus that sweat! ick! haha

Well I am glad you left Canada, less negativity in the homeland is always appreciated.

You don't like the hip? Then stay out of this thread.

It has nothing to do with being wishy washy or Canadian, it has to do with being respectful.

Wow all this debate over a band and I have no idea what they sound like ha ha. I've heard the name before and remember people always talking about them when I lived in Canada, but honestly I don't think I've ever heard a single song. If I have I probably didn't know who it was at all.

But either way it would be cool seeing someone perform that comes from where you did playing live in another country...

Oh, for Pete's sake, harley, you don't like the Hip, that's fantastic, good for you. I don't like Rush, Tim Horton's coffee, - see, I can be honest and un-PC too! The difference between you and me is that I don't think a Canadian posse is gonna come knocking on my door demanding to retract my opinion!

Seriously, I have yet to encounter a "you can't post / start a topic / dare enter the Canadian forum if you don't absolutely positively love hockey / Tim Horton's / curling / Canadian Tire / uniquely Canadian bands / all things Canadian" mentality in this forum, not sure where you got that idea. It just happens that a lot of people posting here like a lot of the typical stuff (ie. Timmy's). You have different tastes, welcome to humanity.
