Traveling to Canada on a Conditional Green Card

Hey Guys,

I need some reassurance here, or honest answers. I was going to make a little Weekend trip back to Canada to visit the folks for about 3 days , 2 nights. I plan on leaving on a Friday morning and leaving on a Sunday night. The question is, am I going to run into any trouble getting back in? Toronto Customs to the US is not exactly the friendliest.

I've heard from a couple people that even though you have a green card, or a conditional one, you can still be denied entry to the states, obviously this would be a problem for me, I have a wife, house, car, job that i love, etc. Even if it's a tiny little risk, I rather not take it.

I just don't want to be stuck up there is what i'm trying to say. Anyone has heard of anything like that? Being denied entry even with a green card?

Not a problem you are a Lawful Permanent Resident, a green-card is a green-card conditional or not.

And how about doing a timeline? :time:http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/profile.php?id=966

I have no idea what country you immigrated from, sometimes knowing this I can adjust answer for the person asking questions.

NO  you are an LPR, your home now is the USA, the green-card proves this.

NONE, unless you broke some law in the USA, and they had a deportation order for you, and revoked the I-551 Green-Card.

I understand your nagging fear...

We traveled back to Nepal in June and I was the tiniest bit anxious re-entering the US with the 2-year greencards. I needn't have worried... everything went very smoothly. The CPB officer even said "Welcome home!".

Have a great time, try not to worry, and don't break any laws and you'll be fine! B)

Best wishes,

Maya

Many thanks to the Visajourney community for all the help!

Just because you are so damned paranoid - doesn't mean they are not after you!

Relax and have a Molson. Have fun and think of your green card as a citizenship paper - you have all the rights of a citizen except voting (and working in certain Govt. agencies).

I have travelled back to Canada 4 times since moving here -- once with my AP papers, twice with my conditional green card, and once with my expired green card/extension letter. I have yet to have a problem.

You are going to be ok! Honest! :)

not only should you have no worries, but on the way home you get to bypass the long long customs line and use the 'citizens and PR card holders' line at pearson.
