Hi All, to cut a long story short, I got married overseas, applied for a K3 visa (similar to K1), arrived in the states and applied for AOS. I now have my biometrics appointment next week and am not sure what is required. From looking at some of the posts it seems they require my social security number but I haven't been issued one yet. Is this going to be a problem? What should I do?

Thanks

Quick history

We met on 1 January 2006 while she was traveling in Hawaii. She came back to Hawaii in April 2006 for 3 weeks. We then continued long distance until June 2006 when I went to Oz and proposed. We then traveled around parts of the US together, then I was deployed to Iraq in August 2006. I came to Oz in February 2007 for my R&R leave for 2 and a half weeks and we got married. Soldiers Story,

The NOA should give clear instructions but:

You'll Need:

  • Passport (for identification purposes)
  • I-797 (Original notice sent to you for the Biometrics Appointment)
That's it - they simply scan the original I-797's bar-code - take a picture then take fingerprints (about 10 minutes once they call your turn). If you have a social security number that's fine, if not, that's fine too.

Biometrics is nothing more than having your fingers printed, a signature, and your picture taken. All you need is ID (Passport) and the biometrics letter.

This is one of the most common questions asked on this site.
