WAL MART AGAIN

Wal-Mart announced that, sometime in 2007, it will begin offering

customers a new discount item ---- Wal-Mart's own brand of wine. The

world's largest retail chain is teaming up with Ernest & Julio Gallo

Winery of California to produce the spirits at an affordable price, in

the $2 - $5 range.

Wine connoisseurs may not be inclined to put a bottle of Wal-Mart brand

into their shopping carts, but "there is a market for inexpensive wine,"

said Kathy Micken, professor of marketing at the University of Arkansas.

"But the right name is important."

Customer surveys were conducted to determine the most attractive name

for the Wal-Mart wine brand. The top surveyed names in order of

popularity were:

10. Chateau Traileur Parc

9. White Trashfindel

8. Big Red Gulp

7. World Championship Riesling

6. NASCARbernet

5. Chef Boyardeaux

4. Peanut Noir

3. I Can't Believe it's not Vinegar

2. Grape Expectations

1. Nasti Spumante

The beauty of Wal-Mart wine is that it can be served with either white

meat (Possum) or red meat (Squirrel).

P.S. Don't bother writing back that this is a hoax. I know possum is

not a white meat.

That's great! I think I'll send that to my father, whose become a real wine connoisseur the last few years. He even has a subscription to a magazine that's all about wine, called Wine Spectator. That almost seems a little silly to me, but if it makes him happy, who am I to rain on his parade?

Classic!!! :jest:

Thanks for the info. I'll make room for it in my cellar. Can it be stored or does it have an expiration date?

Calling an illegal alien an "undocumented immigrant" is like calling a drug dealer an "unlicensedregistered pharmacist". (because somebody gives a damn)

And even then I try not going too cheap, and only use it for marinate. If I'll pour wine directly onto the pot in the stove for a sauce or something, then I use the same wine I drink.

Is there any other way to cook ?

and if you drink enough of the wine, who cares how the food turns out :P

This entire thread reminds me of the Leisure Suit Larry series, particularly the first game, which came out in 1987. If anyone here has played it, then you probably know where I'm headed with this.

In the game, you can purchase some really awful wine at the Quick-E-Mart that's extremely cheap, but once you do, you've got a problem. You can't take a cab. If you try, the taxi driver will grab the wine and drink it, he'll apparently get drunk and you'll both crash, dying instantly. This is solved, however, when a homeless man comes walking by and you give him the wine. He downs it all in one giant gulp and in appreciation, hands you a pocket knife.

Some other "fun" tidbits from that game (without revealing too much, in case anyone ever plans on playing it) is that there's a sex hotline you can call and type in information (i.e. lover's name, favorite sex act, etc) and then the woman on the other end will have phone sex with you, using the information you supplied. Also, if you stand in one place too long while outside, a small dog (I think it's a schnauzer) walks up to you and pees on your leg.

There's a whole lot more to the game, but it's still rather short by today's standards. It was developed in 1987, after all. There are two versions -- the original EGA (16 colors) copy and the remake in VGA (256 colors). The EGA version uses a parser interface (so you need to type everything in) and the VGA remake uses a point-and-click mouse driven interface.

Anyway... I know I went pretty far off topic with this, but the whole "cheap wine" thing just reminded me of this game. :P

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).
