Western North Carolina meet up?

There are a couple of us NC/SC VJers (and former VJers who lurk) who are thinking of getting together sometime next week for dinner maybe in the Charlotte area.

Myself, Alie, and darb are all within an hour to hour and half drive of Charlotte, and as James and I will be moving in a couple of months to Wisconsin, and Alie's has family coming to visit end of the month thru May, we're aiming for next week sometime.

Yep, its last minute and none of us have any idea of Charlotte restaurants, but there ya go! If anyone else would like to join us, let me know here or via PM. If anyone knows of a decent restaurant with a varied menu please let me know. Both my hubby and Alie's hubby are particulary picky eaters, so finding a restaurant they can agree with is always a challenge to say the least! Not sure what any of our work schedules are yet even, so we'll have to try to work around that as well.

Reba,

We are in Winston Salem so we're only about 1.5 hours from Charlotte. The weekend is always the best for me and hubby as we work from Monday to Friday. Would prefer a Saturday meet-up.

Let me ask around for good possibilities for dining. How picky is picky? Any particular type of food your hubby and Alie's hubby prefer? Do they like Cajun?

My DH won't eat any poultry at all, fish only if its battered and slathered in sauce, and prefers no pork but will suffer it if I force him ;)

Alie's DH won't eat Chinese, doesn't even like to go in because of the smells, and several other things. Restaurants that have a varied menu like Fat's Cafe or maybe Outback type would work, that should give us each something to choose.

Weekends are iffy for me and James, we both work at the pizza shop on weekends. He said he can work the schedule so I can have a weekend off, but not him.

If we can't all arrange it within this week, we may be able to try for later in May. James and I will be "between jobs" by then to get ready to move, so he'll have time then. We're just not sure about Alie and her hubby by then. I can check.

It'd be great if we could get a bunch together :)

Next week won't work for us. Hubby has to work as closing MOD next week to cover the usual MOD who is on vacation, and the weekend won't work for us either as my MIL arrives on Fri, Apr. 21.

How about later in May? My MIL leaves on May 13, so we'd be free any time after that.

As for restaurants, as long as its not a Chinese restaurant any thing would do. If it was a buffet style restaurant that would be good, should have plenty of choices for picky husbands. Just don't know of any restaurants in Charlotte.

well, we could try for May then. I was trying for this week just because of Alie's tie ups with her family and whatnot, but if she and Steve can manage sometime in May, that's good for us too.

We'll be back from Scotland on the 12th I think, so some time after that would be good. We won't be working either, so anytime is good for us. But then I think we're moving to Wisconsin early June, so it needs to be before that.

We don't have anything major planned for May so we should be good to go then.

I'd have to ask everyone else re: Ashville or points North-er (heh, I made a word ;) )

I'm only an hour from Asheville, Alie is about 2 hours from Asheville in the opposite direction, but may need someone to come and pick her up. Her hubby is having surgery today, and probably will not be able to join us as he'll still be recovering. darb is in Canada visiting this week, but she'll be driving up from SC, she's about an hour and a half from Charlotte. I need to email Cara to see if she'll be in town that weekend or not.

Will let you know when I hear back from the others!

Well, Cara probably won't be around that weekend.

How's everyone's schedule so far for Saturday the 20th? That's probably the last possible time I'll have, because we're moving sometime in June and I'll be crazed with packing.
