Question about Passport Name

Okay, so in the process of booking my husbands flight, I spelled his name Ibraheem, which is the way I have always spelled it. Okay, but on his passport they spelled it Ibrahim. Do you think they will give trouble at check in, or should I attempt to have them change the spelling?

Did they ask u for his passport number?? and his last name ! .. because this happend to my wife when she bought her ticket was a lil misspell in her name .. but when she got to the airport was no problem !

If the rules say for this airline that it should be spelled exactly as in passport, then it should be as it is spelled there.

So check with the airline. I would call to be sure if it is ok or if it should be changed.

In most cases I've seen no problem when the first name is the nickname instead of fully spelled name, so if it's Dan instead of Daniel or Jon instead of Jonathan or something similar - for names common in English.

If the flight is booked, but not purchased, I would suggest you try to correct the mispelling now. TThat his ticket name matches that on his passport.

It could be the airline people might give him a difficult time checking in if his name does not match that on his passport AS THE AIRLINE STAFF DO CHECK THIS WHEN ISSUING BOARDING PASSES.

Okay, here's the scoop. I bought the Air France ticket on Travelocity. Called Air France, they say there will be no problem. Air Ibrahim (the hubby) unfortunately doesn't buy it. So I call travelocity, they say, yes it is a problem, and I should call Air France and tell them to e-mail a waiver code to travelocity so they can change the spelling. Call Air France, they say, it's not that easy to send a waiver code. BUT the assure me there is not going to be a problem with the ticket and that they have sent an e-maile to the airport to let them know of the mistake in spelling and that it's okay to board. They assured me that even if the spelling had been wrong on the last name, it would have only caused a small problem.

NOW, lets hope that is true and Ibrahim has no problems at all!
