I think it depends whether they have your medical information or not. I had my medical the day before therefore the info wasn't available to them. I was asked if they could keep my passport and send it to me along with my visa a week later which they did.

I mean,do they keep ur passport until you receive visa and therefore cant go on holiday anywhere or do they give back passport on same day

They keep your passport to put the visa in it. So no you dont get it back the same day
