Interview in Chennai

My wife will be attending her interview next month. Does anyone know if I can attend the interview with her? Do I have to approval from the embassy before the interview? Can I just walk in with my passport?

You are allowed in the US Embassy, but not sure if you are allowed for the interview.

Should I get permission or inform the embassy that I would like to attend the interview with my wife? When going into the embassy, would the guard ask me to produce a document showing why I am going, or can I just go in by showing the US passport?

Hi, this is what you need to do. Before going to the embassy, make a photo copy of your main passport page and also the date stamp page when you entered into India this time. Also to be safe take a photo copy of the VISA page. When your wife gets called into the interview, you won't be allowed in. However, she will take your photo copies of the passport in with her showing that you are here with her. If they need anything from you, they will call you in. I also found out that you don't need to get anything notarized, for example the Affidavit since you are there physically. You only need to get things notarized if you are not going to be present for the interview and your spouse is going to be attending it alone. There will be 2 interviews. For the first one you won't be allowed in, the 2nd one is going to be with a US Counselor, for that one you might be asked to come in.
